Salutations, I'm looking into getting a new mech mod. I'm thinking i want something brass or copper. currently I own a few cloned stainless steel mods. but i want something that'll tarnish and look good as it ages. budget: up to $170. I'm also looking for something with very low voltage drop. also if you could reccomend a matching rda with it it'd be great. currently i'm looking into getting a brass monkee rda. and also sticking a glass top on it. I prefer mostly flavor over clouds.

thank you for reading this thread :p

Always my first recommendation these days, the SMPL Mod by Epic design studio. Small profile, low voltage drop due to very well designed switch and it's only $120. I own three of them and use all three on a daily basis, they are easily my favorites amongst a dozen other mods.

Edit: Keep an eye here to check stock, this is the only retailer I'm aware of that is authorized to sell them.

I use mostly 18650's. no need for more then 30 amps in pulse. most of my coil builds sit at 14 amps. Magnets i prefer. but if it's easy to replace the spring with magnets that's fine. and i'm also fine with a spring aswell. and i LOVE a tarnished look wither that has to be worn into that look, or comes that way.

a mod i just came across is the Sir Lancelot by Vapsirs. Which I love the look of. so here's a good example:

does the SMPL have a locking mechanic on it? it looks great also! hm, no top cap? how interesting. is there certain RDA's that won't sit flush with it then?
No lock, just geometry of the switch, and a fairly heavy magnet. I do not own a SMPL, but from friends with them, they are pocket friendly as long as it's a one-object pocket (does not play well with car keys). Any RDAs/attys that have a recessed or totally flush 510 center pin do not work (cant name any off the top of my head though).

Another vote for the SMPL. Just the perfect mod. 18650 length but they just started selling 18350 (iirc) for $40 but it doesn't come with the switch.

Doesn't have any cool engravings on the tube but it is pure function and $120. Copper, brass and stainless along with the new media blasted stainless option.

Top it with a tugboat RDA and it's just a perfect setup (for me).

Question for you: I have several Tugboats (to be honest, they're clones). The pin doesn't seem to portrude enough to use with an SMPL. Have you had any problems with it? I had planned to use the Mutation X on my SMPL when it arrives.

I have both an authentic and clone, haven't had any issues with either. Something you might try is running the battery upside down, which is better anyway because batteries vent from the top and the mod from the bottom. The top of the batteries may be dented slightly from over tightening. It could be your clone though.

If you push the center post out just slightly and use 2-4 wraps of dental floss around it before pushing the center post back in, this will make the 510 positive pin protrude just slightly and ease your mind about a possible short.

Personally I'm partial to the way brass tarnishes naturally with use over copper, but for forced patinas and/or freshly polished mods I like copper better. Unless you plan on going into deep sub-ohm you shouldn't be able notice too much of a difference between the two (given similar build quality), but you will immediately notice you aren't using SS anymore.

+1 for a SMPL. There's beauty in simplicity.
