Longevity of coils

Hello all,

I've been thinking about the longevity of coils, whatever their structure may be.
With my mods, tanks and coils, I found something.
My coils last very long, far beyond a month. Thus, I can't understand why some people have to replace their coils far earlier.

Here is what I have with my setups:

Aspire Triton Mini Tank
- Triton Mini Kanthal 1.2Ω coil
- lasting for 131d to date
- no signs of needing coil replacement so far

Aspire Nautilus X Tank
- Nautilus X 1.5Ω coil
- lasting for 51d to date
- no signs of needing coil replacement so far

Vaporesso Veco red Tank
- EUC Ceramic 0,5Ω
- lasting for 87d to date
- no signs of needing coil replacement so far

Vaporesso Estoc Mega black Tank
- EUC Ceramic 0,5Ω
- lasting for 105d to date
- no signs of needing coil replacement so far

Vaporesso Estoc Mega silver Tank
- EUC Ceramic 0,5Ω
- lasting for 98d to date
- no signs of needing coil replacement so far

Vaporesso Veco Plus silver Tank
- EUC Ceramic 0,6Ω
- lasting for 46d to date
- no signs of needing coil replacement so far

At this, I do not understand why some of you have to replace their coils after a week or two.
Maybe this is due to me using seven e-cigarettes in turn, which reduces the load on coils.

Welcome @aLyr and I hope you enjoy your stay.

I get great life out of my coils also because I use many during the day and I also do not vape at high wattage's compared to what the recommended ranges are. Although I do vape at the highest rating on some but with those I use Temperature Control which you really do not burn the coils. I also keep drawing which helps coil and saturate the coils for the next pull. Another thing I do is not running the tanks very low because if the coil is completely submerged it has less chance of burning crusting with it being wet. To each theor own though and whatever give you the vape you are pursuing!

I think it all depends on how you vape. My wicks last 1 week and my coils maybe 2 weeks but I vape very sweet juice that really gunks the coils . Often, dry burning leaves a white coating and I have to toss the coil. Welcome and glad your coils last longer than mine![emoji4]

Should be ml's thru not days? I get 1mth and 150mls through my 1.8 Nautilus Coils. Unflavored. Some have complex juices that lose something if they go too long. Mine start to burn and @ 7w, can't really turn it down to help.

Yes, you're right. I still measure mine in days but I guess it's every 40ml

I don't even pay attention to how many mls I put through a tank per coil-maybe I should start doing that. Before I switched to the RBA deck on my 2 TFV8s, I was getting about a month out of those coils, and about 3 weeks out of my baby beast. My Subvod only gets around 2 weeks, and it's about the same out of my Nautilus X and K1. It really all depends on how much power you vape at, and what kind of juice you're using.

I myself got liking TC mode, and I'm running all my five Vaporesso mods in this way, though it was difficult sometimes.
Especially my latest second Tarot Nano has been somewhat tricky in this regard. But I could make it with a TCR setting of 120 in M2. In SS mode, it did not work well at any temperature setting. My older Tarot Nano had to be set to 310°C/590°F to give me a good vaping experience, which is quite high. My new Tarot Nano does not achieve this, thus I had to change to M2 with a 120 TCR. With this, it works quite nicely.

I got over 10,000 puffs on one Baby Beast X4 Quad coil and someone asked how many puffs per ML and I still haven't gotten around to a getting a total and over 5,000 puffs on this coil so far.

I see you use a lot of Ceramic Coils which I have heard last a long time but concerning your Nautilus X how often do you use yours during a day? I get very long life out of mine but only use it for a few hours in the mornings because I use it with Bakery flavors. Sometimes 4 ML's per day but I do not keep track of when I installed them.

I think a lot depends on exactly the juice your vaping itself, if its highly flavored or loaded with sweeteners or tobaccos, they are going to get gunked up way faster than a clean mix. that in itself is a huge factor in pre-made coil lifespan.

Yes, sweeteners has clogged my coils but continuing to draw after letting off the fire button prolongs or prevents them from clogging the coils. Has worked for me for a very long time so I guess I can say it is proven at least to me.

A coil is worth replacing for me after 100 ml. It seems to improve texture and TH. My setup is iin the signiture area below.

Hello @aLyr! I'm new to vaping and it quickly became my hobby. I build and wick my coils, but I remember that my first eGo ONE CL coil last for 2 weeks.
Now I don't pay attention. Have so many and are so easy to build

Coils are scientifically designed to last between 1 and 10000 draws.. YMMV..
Anyway. Your eliquid also plays a role in the life of a coil. Sweetened and/ darker eliquids tend to stick to the coil and burn, reducing the useable life of the coil and wicking material.
