I went into my local B&M yesterday because my battery died on me and needed a quick replacement. Once the battery was replaced, I asked for some 24mg blueberry because 18mg wasnt satisfying my analog craving entirely.

She told me she wouldn't sell higher than 18 because of my age, stating only 30 year + smokers that smoked 2 PAD needed that high. Untrue, it's really not based on either from what I've seen on this forum. Needless to say I refused to purchase the liquid. I was a PAD+ smoker for 5 years, I'm almost nineteen.

It was definitely her choice to refuse the service, but what really irritated me was her next comment after I finished the purchase of my battery.

"If you want to quit smoking just don't smoke you dont need 24mg or 18mg, you can just quit"
Now, I'm not sure if that's how she quit, but for most of us, we took up vaping specifically because we were unable to by other means. I found it annoying that she thought she knew my smoking history or anything about my addiction. Refuse a sale if you wish, but don't tell me how to deal with my addiction. I showed my frustration as I exited.

Do you think I overreacted? I feel like that may have just been the fact that she was older and maybe was talking as some kind of mother figure. Which is ridiculous, I am an adult and can make decisions for myself.

I doubt I'll return to that shop.

Yeah she was out of line in my opinion. Your body will tell you when it gets enough nic. A lot of people buy higher nic juices simply because they only have a "smoke break" that lasts a short time during the day. Nic absorption from vapor is not the same as an analog. If it were me I would probably revisit the store and give her a new point of view. It is her store and I'm pretty sure she can deny anyone a sale but her reasoning is where my problem lies. I'm thinking maybe there's something going on that you don't know about. Maybe she had a bad experience with another customer or something in the past. Just doesn't make too much sense.

That's exactly what I thought. I want to quit, so using what's at my disposal to do that should be my choice. Luckily all my DIY supplies will be here tomorrow. Maybe I'll go inside the shop with my 24 and vape away. There's a small flavor testing area there so I'll just sit there and brag about my 24.

Not really I don't like vaping to show off :p

PS sorry for the wall of text

That was not a wall of text. Just look around at some of the posters on here and they can show you what a wall of text looks like.

maybe she has had a lot of underage people trying to buy nic juice and was being overly cautious ... either way, she was wrong to refuse you with ID.

years ago, I was refused the sale of cigarettes when I had no ID with me ... I was 32 years old at the time ... the guy refused to budge, he said, if you look under 25 ... I have to see ID

Was in my 40's and we had just moved to Missouri. Bought stinkies at Wal-Mart and hubby was
in another part of the store. Clerk almost refused to sell them to me, even with ID. She said she
just knew the ID was fake. How can I get mad about that? I was in my 40's. Wish it would
happen again. :vapor:

I am definitely not underage and she didnt ID me this time since Ive gone in there multiple times. She knows who I am and has seen my ID at least 5 times lol

I think it's her choice to do it, and considering its like 9$ for a 10ml if juice, she really saved me the trouble. It was still my choice as an adult

Is she the owner? If not you should call and talk to the owner. Find out if it's store policy or a rogue employee.

She's the only person I've seen besides a younger girl who looked like her daughter. I'm assuming it's family owned?

The other girl never specifically said anything. But seemed to be agreeing that I shouldn't be allowed that concentration of nic.
I'll look into who actually owns that store

If she is the owner then it is her choice to sell to anyone, whether I agree with her or not. If she was just an employee then it might be in everyones best interest to let the owner know. It might save some future sales and might save some grief of someone who is trying to quit smoking.
