I'm looking at the 5Avape clone of the Stratum Balance.
Anyone own one/have an opinion?

They also have the black (POM) and silver Balance on-sale for $46.99 USD.

Probably the cheap black one, but maybe the cheap white one. It's not like I need quick shipping or anything.

Did you take the dive?

That's a ringing endorsement! How is the fire button? Does it require a lot of pressure (so, thumbs required) or a wrapped finger works?

The fire button does not require a lot of pressure. It's roughly the same pressure as my Mixx SBS's. The fire button is not sensitive like my Tek Division Legacy SBS Omron proximity switch. I'm very comfortable with thumb or wrapped finger firing it. My preferred way to fire is using the big knuckle at the base of my thumb. That way I can very comfortably wrap my hand around the mod.

That's a new one on me - thank you!! I usually look to Marty's (FB) list but I like that site. :thumb:

Marty's FB group is where I found the SBS website. Fe Him posted it in the group a couple days back.

Marty has an Excel spreadsheet (sbs database.xlsx) listing all the SBS mods. He's very good with keeping it updated. It's pinned on the top of the group page. I have it, but ECF won't let us post an Excel document.

Grazie!

Yeah - I have his list too. I haven't been visibly active in that group in some time (at least I don't think I have been), but I still lurk and download his spreadsheet. It's mainly for the fun of it as I haven't bought anything since the Unions. I'm not difficult to identify (which can be a blessing or a curse).

The cheap Stratum clone though, is a distinct possibility. I let my Xvos sit too long and need to do some surgery to remove the plates. If they're unfixable, I'd only have the Unions left (2 DNAs and a Starplat) as SbS mods, and I'd probably like another.

Another mod is the LAST thing that I need, but we ARE vapers. :vapor:

I do like the looks of this SBS.

I'm waiting on more information from Yongo Jin the designer at Xtra Mile Vape regarding his new SbS mod. He hasn't released a name for it yet. He posted those photos in the SBS group not long ago.

510 drop: 30mm
Fire button: front
Weight: 90g (approx)
Dimensions: 22mm x 45mm x 71mm
Material: Anodized aluminum with SS buttons. Various options for the front panel such as Peek, black PEI and more (TBD). From the first photo it looks like he might have some stab wood panels (TBD).

Price: has not been decided yet, he said that will be revealed soon via his group

Sales: list via the "XTRA MILE VAPE +18/21 [Official]" FB group

If the price is fair I will likely purchase one.

It never ends!!!

ETA: I forgot to add, it uses an 18650 and has a DNA60 chipset.

I saw that one too, back when he posted it. It's very nice but doesn't play to my preferences. Xvos, Unions - that's my style. Rounded and pocket friendly.

Like when I used to look at and admire mechs, but knew they weren't for me (I need the "V", so to speak) , I still admire all the nice SbS work.

Fair price for me = Not in the same Universe as an authentic OLC Stratum mod.

NO argument from me. Zero chance I'd drop for one of the authies there. "Fiddy" bucks is just about right, and just about at my current "max" (these days of vape).

You rock!!! :headbang: $50 is excellent price. And now, you've given me a case of FOMO.

Gotta tip my hat to you DP, I thought you were talking about buying an Ennequadro Flexy v2 SBS.

VERY nice, SMT! CONGRATS!!!

No more big tickets for me. I'm trying to decide what to offload here (if anything). I'm keeping ALL of my lower end stuff (Beaters!), and my SBS mods are down to just the ones I REALLY like. Contemplating losing one of them, a Starplat chipped one, but can't bring myself to actually start a thread.

It's all written up, and pics have been taken, but every time I try to start it, I break out into hives (lol).

I reckon I'm keeping that one too. We ARE vapers!!!

Just ordered a white POM and SS version. FOMO a factor. Can't wait.
Will be keen to hear your thoughts when yours arrives @DPLongo22

I got the black delrin one, @Pigs , and it arrived very quickly (less than three weeks). I like it a lot, especially for the price! It's small & rounded, exactly as I want my "carry pieces" to be.

It won't knock my top choices off a perch, but it will DEFINTELY see action. WELL worth the "fiddy", in my only-sometimes-humble opinion. :w00t:

I HOPE YOU LIKE IT TOO! If not, blame @ShowMeTwice (LOL!).

Excellent!

As much as I'd like to blame SMT for enabling (he's guilty many times anyway  ), in this case I had my eye on the little blighter well before his post.

Now I can't keep thinking about the ultem version. 66 bucks. I never used to like the look of pei but these days I'm a major convert. Hardiest of all the plastics and the way the light shines through... better stop.
