OK, I've been vaping for quite a while now and never had much trouble with atties dying on me. They'd normally last me a few weeks then pop, I was fine with that. I've been vaping on a Darwin for maybe three months now, running my atties somewhere in the 8.5W - 9.5W range. Lately I've been killing them like no other.

My last Joye 510 from litecigusa lasted me a week

Really bad mojo started with a 5-pack of the RIVA 510 from Liberty Flights - one lasted two weeks, the next one lost vapor production and flavor (coils got gunked up) so I switched to a fresh one. This one lasted less than 24 hours so I put the old one on...still crappy performance, but it works fine. Got tired of the performance, put on another fresh atty, popped it in less than 24 hours again. Put the gunked-up old one back on, still going strong.

By now I'm thinking I need to score some premium atties. I ordered up 4 of the Ikenvape cannon stealths (1.8, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.4 ohm varieites) and a HV 306. Got these yesterday, put on the 2.0 cannon and it was good. Damn thing popped on me this afternoon. I was not happy.

Now I'm back on my ill-performing RIVA 510, it's still working fine. All of the atties above are certainly dead, not just dirty, they read 0 ohms on my Darwin. This is getting annoying, expensive and frustrating. I really thought the purportedly premium IKV atties would fix my problems, they just cost me more when they fail it seems.

A bit of background: I'm direct-dripping, not flooding and not running dry. I de-wicked the RIVA 510s but left the IKV cannon alone. I generally chain-vape, but I try to let my atty cool down between bouts of vaping. Juice consumption is probably around 3mL a day, almost exclusively from BWB, AVE and Vaperite.

Does anyone have any ideas what in the heck is going on lately?

seems like it's the higher power range you're using now...
in my experience I'm going through more attys now than ever too.
I have Provari's, love them, and my favorite atty is the dse 901 reg. (2.8 to 3.1 Ohm). I hit them at 3.8 to 4.0v the first couple of days and then the resistance starts creeping up, and the highest i need go is say 4.8v... but they die within a week to 10 days.

and that's with using 2 Vari's at a time. i know if i only had one Vari, they'd be dying off faster.

I even tried going back into carto's but no dice... not as good a vape imo. So i bought 50 901's from Vapor Kings at $37 for $10.

I think 510's last a little longer.

I may be an expert at dripping by now, but good vapes takes a toll on attys...
Some folks are looking into the Genesis atty coming out where it's 1. the best vape, and 2. you can replace parts.

I've come to love threads such as these, because it tells me that I'm not crazy or losing my mind.

I've tried everything from Joye, Cisco, Iken, Eastmall, SMK etc. atties, and it's the same damn story. They DIE! I've not been able to figure out why yet. I've just given up on it, and accept it as part of my vaping. I've also learned to place orders for atties when I have 5 or so left, because I never know how long they will last.

I've recently switched to 901's and they do seem to last a little longer compared to 510's.

FYI.. I vape at 3.7v (well, 4.1 when fully charged 18650), and only direct drip.

some of the vets i know get better atty life, and some don't... i don't feel bad because i've done everything except have a lousy vape... when you think about it, if you buy bulk, it's way less than what a pack of smokes cost even a yr or two ago... not to mention what they cost today!
VaporKings 10 paks.... $36.75 (dse 901 sr and lr) joye 510 $46.75 (lr and sr)

I'm on the same boat. Right before the Dual Coils came out, I was going thru atty's like crazy. I was having decent success with them at the start, but it went downhill. I don't know if I developed bad habits, and did not drip them as much, or if I was just having bad luck. I was really starting to get frustrated. Luckily I gave the Dual Coils a try and they have worked perfectly. It's been around 2 months now, and I have not even touched an atty. It's saved me loads of cash.

haha..... yep.
Looks like the big atty producers have had the best of it for a while... it's the innovators that are the ones seeking to improve what has been most lacking in the vaping world, and I predict that the big boys will have to change as attys start getting better.
Tanks, and feed systems such as Imeo's "iatty" and Genesis etc are about to explode ...
(when that happens, i'd be happy to see these disposables go down in price, as imo they give great vape; just call them what they are; disposable)

Great input everyone. Sounds like I'm doing just about what I should be doing...killing atties. Oh well, I am getting a great quality vape for my troubles and it is way cheaper than smoking ever was.

Absolutely. US suppliers have had amazing innovation on the battery end so far, time to move on to atties. I forsee an amazing future.
