Can I buy kanthal wire somewhere like Walmart, Lowe's, etc. Other than ordering it online?

Kanthal is the brand name for the wire, and I've never seen it sold at the super chains like Wally World. However, if you check with local industrial supply stores, you may be able to find some. Generally, though, it would be much cheaper to order it on line.

From what I can tell, you're not going to find it at Menards or Home Depot. I never checked at Lowes, but I'm guessing the same there. I just ordered some from Lighning Vapes. $3.09 for 25 feet of 28g. Awesome price. My USPS tracking info indicated that they are based in Bradenton, Fl, in case you wonder how far it has to travel to get to you.

I've never seen it at the big box home stores. I also checked on the Radio Shack website, nothing came up. We have a Grainger's close to where I live, but it didn't come up on a search of their website either.

I get mine from Temco on ebay. I've bought silica from Lightening Vapes, and he's a good supplier too.

Temco is running $4.70-$6.00 (w/ Free Shipping) on average for 100 feet in a nice roll. I've order 300 feet in the past few weeks (various gauges) and received each of them within 2-4 days. If it did manage to get into a big box store such as Home Depot or Lowes, you'd most likely be paying 2-3x that for potentially less.
