Kangertech EVOD coils

Being new to the site and to vaping I posted this here. If it is better placed elsewhere Admins please move it and I apologize. Figured it best here being new to the scene and beginners section.

I hope this has not been asked and answered several times before. I could not find it if it has been.

I have a Kangertech EVOD kit. The EVOD tank single coils all have 1.8 ohms stamped on them. I also have 1.5 ohm dual coils for my EVOD Glass tank. When I use my Amprobe to test the resistance the 1.8 ohm single coils read 2.1 to 2.2 ohms. The dual coil 1.5 ohm coils read 1.6 to 1.6 ohms.

I thought there might be something wrong with my probe so I tested new unused coils and achieved the same results. I can understand being a little off on the single coils but every one, though stamped 1.8 ohms read right around 2.2 ohms.

It almost seems that they are 2.2 ohm coils which were stamped incorrectly, but consistently. Not sure if anyone else has tested theirs and can provide input. I don't think I am testing them wrong as the dual coil 1.5 ohm coils were pretty close as advertised.

I have an Eleaf iStick coming and thought I should test coil resistance before just putting tanks on and hitting the button. I must say I am a little stumped.

I've ran across Kanger coils stamped 1.8 but measuring 2.2. My guess is this is quality control issue combined with your luck.

then after you heat it and get it wet it might change a little bit also (marked 1.8-shows 2.2-use goes to 1.9?)

always thought about buying old 60watt light bulbs
I bought packages that said 60 watts, but wonder if they only
put out 51 watts

does my 75 watt soft light bulb produce 88 watts !

but kanger just MASS produces them, so QC is poor (like so many others)

which is SO STUPID due to the fact that is the bottom line that you judge their product by...

I have had that issue with every pre built coil right now I have an aspire Bvc 1.8 and my mvp2 reads it as 1.9 which isn't huge but it's still not a 1.8 like everyone else has said it's what is to be expected from a mass produced product

Thank you for the replies everyone. This would explain why I have read several posters state they like their Kanger coils better after they rebuild them. It looks like I will be learning to rebuild coils myself. I have the tools and testers, just need practice. Once I learn how I will guarantee Quality Control as I tend to be somewhat OCD based on totally unfounded accusations by my wife!

Hey Tech! I have used Kanger EVOD coils daily for the past several months and the only thing consistent about them is how inconsistent they are in ohms. From coil to coil, package to package they can range anywhere from 1.6 to 2.5 ohms regardless of what it says on the package. I'm working on a pack of 2.2 ohm and there hasn't been a 2.2 ohm in the bunch. When I get a really good one that gives me that perfect vape (for me), I hate when it comes time to pitch it. I'm just not into rebuilding them. Good thing I usually can find them really cheap! But, they never (again, for me) pop or malfunction otherwise. The vape may be warmer or tighter but they always function. And to be so cheap, I can clean, dry burn and use them again. In my EVODs, I never have gurgling or burning issues. Thank goodness for VV/VW devices.

I agree. I've never seen a total failure, and with VV anything from 1.5 to 2.7 Ohm is usable. I just like to tinker. Rebuilding is certainly not necessary, I but I can relate to OCD. Plus I've got time.

Did you subtract the resistance of the leads? Hold them together on the lowest resistance setting and then subtract that number from what it measures. That is more accurate.

Leads? Do you mean voltage drop in the coil head and tank base? I'm confused.

Oops. I use the 510 screw-on gadget. Sorry about confusion.

My amp probe is an Amprobe ACD-14. It zeros when they are held together. I have tested with the Amprobe and a cheaper meter and they both agree on the Ω readings.

I didn't take a video of it. Is it a question of how to do it or a question of validation of results?
