Hello all !
So i've not been active as much as i'd like on here since i started vaping. Its nearly been six weeks since i stopped stinkies !
Oh my how time flies !
I have been running an itaste VV3 since stopping and have loved this machine since the start, until i became curious when i saw a colleague using a kanger pro tank at work.. I loved the design, but it seemed too big, and pocket unhelpful.
After doing some research i decided on the mini protank II, which I have now used for over a week and thought I should share some thoughts on it.
First impressions - packaging:
I've never been overly bothered by packaging for items I order, as i'm usually more inclined towards what is actually inside, as that is what I have paid for !
Bit of background first to explain.. I used to work in footwear retail. A lot of the time you could tell the quality of a pair of shoes, just by the feel and weight of the box they come packaged in, and since leaving that job I've never really thought about it.
And now I've remembered why it was true. The packaging of the Kanger mini protank is stupid. As in, stupidly good ! The box is solidly constructed, no rattles, and everything is clearly well positioned, thought out, and protected. As I said above, i never really think about that, much, but this definitely made me spend a few minutes admiring the packaging ! The slide-out-the-side box design is very well thought out, if a bit on the snug side.
What you get in the package:
First impressions of the unit:
A deeper look and actual use:
One of the more important factors for me - reliability and ruggedness: I work in the front line public sector. Without giving it away, physical activity and the occasional roll around sometimes happen.
Of course the usual unintentional drops from height, and doing a 180 pirouette out of the car at speed after your handcuffs phantom attach you to the seat-belt must be mentioned here as well.. (This usually makes various items exit pockets at speed)
After a week of solid use, dropping it more times than I care to mention, and it inducing a tasty (and remarkably large) bruise to my thigh after I landed on it whilst rugby tackling someone
. The unit itself it is completely unscathed and still works brilliantly.
Bottom line ? - Buy one (or two), you won't be disappointed !
(I'll put some pictures up when i figure out how to do it)

What you get in the package:
- Mini pro-tank 2 clearomiser (510 drip tip attachment, eGo thread attachment base)
- Two atomiser heads
- Two spare seals (Nice thoughtful touch there for extending the life of the product)
- A user manual
First impressions of the unit:
- Weight - This item is made from only a few materials, with the vast majority being surgical grade steel, and pyrex. It weighs some ! Its got that hefty "put a window in" weight to it, whilst somehow not being overly cumbersome.
- Size - The same size as my iclear 16 dual coils. Not huge, but not tiny either !
- Quality - No seams to be seen here ! All the metal (with the exception of the threads) is smooth and very well constructed, no imperfections that I could see. The threads are good quality and feel solid, no wobble on my itaste at all and almost feels glued to the unit.
A deeper look and actual use:
- I haven't measured how much e-liquid these actually hold, but its more than enough for a day and a half vaping at the same rate which i used to smoke (about 15 stinkies a day)
- After using iclear 16 dual coil's since i got my Innokin, The Kanger protank mini has got a lot more air flow through the unit - it took a while to realise why the liquids i used tasted less strong. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but its worth noting. If you like a "tight" draw, this would not be for you.
- Whilst drawing through the unit, it has a slight metallic tang to the taste - I'll see if this wears off over time, or if it stays. I personally don't mind it. It has a nice draw, and hasn't given me any problems yet.
- Ease of refilling - One thing I hate is faffing around too much to re-fill a clearomiser. The Kanger pro tank takes the biscuit on this, unscrew the coil mount, and fill away !
- Cleaning - Everything disassembles easily to clean the unit without too much fuss, the coil base unit is a bit of a pain in the .... to pull apart to get to the wicks for a dry burn (it needed it !) and required the use of pliers and teeth to get them apart. The O rings feel a bit soft, but seem rugged enough.
