Kanger EVOD USB?

I've had my ecig for 10 days, love it. No problems until last night when the light on my battery (an EVOD USB) flashed 3 times while I was taking a hit. The battery had only been off the charger a few hours, should have had plenty of juice but acted like it was dead. When I plug it in the charging light comes on red, the battery appears to charge for a while, and the charging light turns green like it should, but I get no response when I hit the firing button. I've made sure that it isn't in stand-by / locked mode. This happened (of course) after my vapor shop was closed so I haven't been in to have it checked out yet. Can anyone offer any advice, anything to check? I'm guessing that the battery has gone bad, but after only ten days that's a little disappointing.

Sounds like it could have been shorted by your topper. Which would also explain why you're not getting anything when pressing the fire button.
Try another topper on it, or change the coil of the current topper. The battery may well be fine!

Also, You need a Backup, and a backup for your backup.. This includes batteries And toppers as well as the replacement parts.

It could be that the topper is not making contact with the battery post. Have you tried taking the topper apart and reassembling it (take the base off and unscrew the coil assembly, then put it all back together)? If that doesn't work, try a new coil. If that doesn't work take it back to the shop and they should be able to help you out.

As SupplyDaddy said, having backups is necessary, especially in the beginning, when you are still learning how everything works. Often problems are fixable, but it takes experience to know what needs fixing and how to do it. I'd say you need, at a minimum, two batteries and a couple of toppers and replacement coils. In the beginning, it seems like you can keep throwing money at vaping with no end in sight, but once you get more experience this can slow down (until you start collecting shiny things...).

3 flashes on the Evod is either the 10 second cutoff on a draw, or (if memory serves) it does that when the battery hits half-charge.

If it isn't firing, it could be the battery gone bad, but it could also be the center pin in the connection pressed in too far or the topper causing problems.

Thanks, I found a reference somewhere else to the center pin but it looks fine and I wasn't able to pull it up higher. Sounds like a problem with the topper might be what I'm looking at.

;) I'd rather be "throwing money at vaping with no end in sight" than throwing money at Big Tobacco with no end in sight. "until you start collecting shiny things..."I can already see this coming. It's hard to resist the pretty toys I see in the cases at the shop.

Exactly! Sometimes people get frustrated with this or that not working perfectly though, so I just wanted to reassure you that the problems aren't insurmountable. ;)

If the coil is below 1.3 ohms(ish not 100% sure but it is around there) the battery will lock down till you plug it into a charger that could be the problem as well

You pegged it man. Bad coil, guy at the shop had to plug it into a wall charger before it would kick in. I applaud your troubleshooting skills!
