Just stick with an RDA?

I have been using rda's for the last few months. They were my first rebuildable atomizers and have been enjoying the authentic Velocity V2 mostly although I did use about four other rda's. When I decided to build on the RBA of the Cloud Beast I just wasn't happy and I felt I get much more satisfaction with my RDA. The other day I bought the obs crius and still feel like I can't comfortably use it. Needed to limit the wattage or the juice would not flow into the cotton fast enough. I must've rewicked five times to see if it was just me.

I am not sure if I can say this just yet but it seems to me like the only rebuildable atti that I like for my needs is an RDA. Maybe I didn't try the right RTA but something just tells me that I only like and will only go with an RDA. Has anyone else had this point where they decided to just stick with an RDA and say like that the other types of rebuildable atti's are just not for me?

If you like the flavor of a dripper but want the convenience of a tank, you might try an RDTA (like an RDA but with a HUGE juice well) or a squonker (bottom-fed atomizer and a mod with an on-board juice bottle -- instead of taking the cap off to drip, you just give the bottle a squeeze or a "squonk" and it feeds juice up into the atomizer through the bottom. If you squonk too much don't worry, as any excess will just drain back into the bottle.)

Squonker.
10ml bottle, RDA, fully mechanical.

It's a mech with a dripper that doesn't run out of juice.

I used RDAs for a few years until RTAs got better. Now I get the same performance out of my tanks and don't have to drip or squonk. They are a bit more complex to set up because you have to wick juice further so the wicking has to be done more accurately. I appreciate not having to drip or squonk so I made the effort to learn how to set up tanks to my liking :)

Having said that, if you like RDAs there is absolutely nothing wrong with sticking with them. Vape on dethmedalmuziq :thumb:

Me. There are darn few RDAs i can tolerate.

Hate the dripping and the leaks.

The only rda i can put up with are.

Darang
Deadmodz V2
Rogue
Narda (i think)

The others are simply a disaster imho.

Your RTA that couldnt keep up. Sounds like a wicking issue not the RTA.

Wicking is an art form. Tight in the coil but yet loose enough to slide without moving the coil.

Cotton swells when saturated abd will fit the coil perfectly.

I vape a kayfun Lite Plus with. 25 mm tall bell cap.

I use 70-80% VG juices and my wicking keeps up even when i chain vape.

I vape almost exclusively on an SV rda clone and almost always on a Pico (see avatar). My old N mini gets a few puffs a day in specialized stealth situations. I can't comment much about other rda's because it's been a while since I used another one. I like that there is no glass. The parts count is low. I like a fresh wick every couple of days. That's easiest on an rda. An rda can be very short. That's important to me for several reasons. My rda is a simple creature and will be easier to keep in service (I have several) if governments interfere with supplies of atomizers. The SV in particular is good at flavors. That's important for me because I use only 1% flavoring. What ever I'm vaping on it must not leak in my pocket. The SV has only one air supply and it's on the barrrel. A tall slip ring will cover it securely in my pocket. A short atomizer on a short mod is discrete. That's important to me. We tend to favor what ever we get used to. I'm used to what I'm using. There are downsides. I do have to be more careful about leaking. I do have to re drip but not so often because there is a good juice well, I'm a lower power vaper and keep daily ml's around 5-6. I use temp control so that if the wick starts to dry while I'm driving I can vape on until a chance comes to redrip. I'm sure there are very good RTA's out there but I'll stick with my SV for the advantages.

Ok..so here we go. I was an RDA ONLY guy up until a few weeks ago. I've tried the TFV-whatever's (tried all of them and don't care for them at all) and some other tanks. I love the flavor I get from an RDA but sometimes dripping (and driving also brings I'm paralyzed from the waist down and drive with hand controls) sometimes isn't the easiest thing to do at times. I got an EZ Dripper to take care of the dripping and driving issue but still sometimes I hate to drip. I looked into a genesis style atty and settle on the IJoy Combo (which I love!). This atty has great flavor and great clouds.

Now to RTA's. I found an RTA by VaporGate and it was the 30mm dumptank. Now this can't fit on every mod out there but I have the RX300 that it fit on with very tiny overhang which I could deal with. It was ok but not the best. I was looking for a bigger and better tank and after talking with people on here I ended up pulling the trigger on the Voltrove. Now this tank is 41mm and holds 20ml+ of juice so it's a beast and needed something to put it on and wanted the HOG for a while so I found a clone for $40. The Voltrove sits nice on it and the tank is the BEST tank I've ever used. Flavor like a dripper but I have juice that will last me all day or most of it beings I vape around 20ml+ (give or take a few) of juice a day. Beings that it's so big isn't for everybody but I'm in a wheelchair all day at work and when I'm going on break or lunch I don't have to put this behemoth in my pocket and can just sit it on my lap or put it between my legs while I'm pushing. If I was an able-body I wouldn't be taking this thing out of the house (if I would have even bought it).

Anyways if I were you I would check out the IJoy Combo. I don't know your feelings g on squonking but I never was a fan but to each his own you know. Whatever you find that suits your vaping style and keeps you off the stickies is a plus so hope you find what your looking for. I know other people will chime in and give you their 2¢ and you can make up your mind. FYI anybody who gives you their opinion on an atty, jump on YouTube and watch some reviews from different reviewers and get their opinion. The more opinions you have the more it may make your choice easier. Good luck!

As you don't state what you used for your build. it hard to assist.

I have a Crius, and it's just fine. SS316L at 2.5mm size, 26 gauge... no wicking issue, in TC mode, can't remember the OHM reading (at work now, and it's at home) but probably around 0.2 to 0.6.

I know others that love their Crius (their go-to), so odds are it's not the tank, but you just have to learn that every tank does have a "better" approach that's usually unique to it.

Also, if you're used to RDAs only, the wicking technique is very different, and the Crius can be a bit tricky when not used to it.

It can pump out quite a bit of clouds that could give a few RDAs a run for their money.

Extra note: I set most of my mods at 45-50W and then adjust the TC level... usually starting at 320F up to 390F and it's a nice very warm vape that I can fog my living room easily with.
