GURPS is a great system. Considering how detail-oriented you come across on the boards (which I only mean as a compliment), it makes perfect
sense.
Thanks, like my flavors, I like to mix things up and it is the perfect fit for that kind of play.
...Ahh, the good old days. I can't seem to find any 31 year old vapors in Long Island that want to play RPGs anymore, and my old crew has dispersed across the country
So for now I'm left waiting 5 years each for George R R Martin to finish a damn book and my multi-sided dice, monster manuals and handbooks collect dust
My regular group ranges from teenage to mid-50's, so it must be a geography thing. RR won't be there, but I know that Tracy Hickman, his wife Laura and Margaret Weis should be at Gen Con this year. (Along with a whole bunch of other writers and artists.) I got to attend my first Hickman's Killer Breakfast last year and it was a blast.
The regulars, who know well my DIY streak, want me to build my version of
The Sultan but cannot come up with the $ for the wood.
If you two attend Gen Con, I will bring some of my
tobacco mixes and a few character sheets and throw together a side game with some non-vapors to keep the room from getting too clouded.

Has anyone gotten Oakwood to be a background note in a tobacco mix yet? There is a wonderful earthy dryness there, but it seems to not be melding the way I want with the few attempts I have given it.
