After hearing about some of the advantages of temperature control( Less juice consumption, longer battery life) I've decided to upgrade my subox. Preferring a smaller mod using one 18650 only, I've seen the eleaf 40w, evic VT and sigelei 75w and decided to go for the sigelei 75w with my subtank. Probably wont be vaping above 50w on this. Being completely new to temperature control, here's a few quick questions I hope someone can answer.

1. Is this device well built enough to survive a few drops?(I tend to be clumsy)
2. Any battery precautions I should be aware of when using Ni200 wire?
3. What is the set resistance function for on the mod?
4.Will the juice consumption really be lowered?

Any help would be appreciated.

I got my wife one of the Sigelei 75w TC mods back in July, so I can answer a few of those.

1.) It comes with a silicone sleeve, with the sleeve on it has survived a couple drops from my wife so far. The side panels are held on with magnets, so a drop without the sleeve, I could see a panel / and or battery flying out.

2.) You should use a high drain battery with this mod (20A rated +).
3.) The set resistance is used in Temp Control mode. You lock in the resting resistance of your ni200 build, it uses that as a baseline for the temp control calculations.
4.) No, not really. Juice consumption will vary on many factors. Using the same atty / similar style build you should see about the same juice consumption with or without temp control. Using a RDA you can vape more juice from the wick without dry burning, so in that regard I guess one may claim lower juice consumption.

Its an OK device for the $51 shipped I paid. I wouldn't pay much more than that for it though. I don't really like the Temp Control on this mod, I've only used it a couple times, but it seems underpowered / odd. I don't' use the mod myself, and my wife uses it only in power mode, so maybe somebody else with more experience using the Temp Control side can weigh in.

Thanks for your help! would there be any other device near this price point with TC that you'd recommend?

The IPV D2 is slightly cheaper, and smaller, around $50 shipped. I've never tried that one, but hear its OK. Its got native support for nickel, and titanium wire, where the sigelei 75 only supports nickel. Also has a yihi board if that means anything to you.

Another even cheaper one that looks descent is the koopor mini. Its by Smok, but apparently its not bad. Authentic Smok Koopor Mini 60W Temperature Control VW Variable Wattage Box Mod Silver they have a coupon code right now that brings it down to like $37 shipped (I think the code is koopor). The koopor can use more than just nickel as well, it has a limited user adj TCR curve to allow for other wires with TC.

Any of the 3 are fine. The sigelei 75W is just the most limited one in terms of wire support.

Then there are also DNA 40 style clones in that price range, but I would avoid those with the cheap effective authentic TC mods that are available now.
