I'm not sure what temperature your atty heats up to, but here is the info on gasoline: "The most commonly known flammable liquid is gasoline. It has a flash point of about -50° F (-65° C). The ignition temperature is about 495° F (232(232° C) [sic], a comparatively low figure." I doubt very seriously, though, that an atty gets anywhere near that hot.

Those are worrying figures! My vw campervan heads get that hot on a good run , 225 degrees C ! thank goodness I converted it to LPG! I could have caused an explosion if I'd have pulled straight off the motorway and into the petrol station!

I think I read somewhere that an atty heats up too about 60 degrees c so that would rule out sources of ignition. I think I read that on a tread where a few guys were creating a new atomizer and had bulk ordered a load of ceramic elements they had designed. I must search for that thread and see how it's going!

Thanks for the info Banjo , I guess we would just hope we didn't get a spark!

"This morning a man in Utah was blown to smithereens when he took a hit off of his.. *get this* an electronic cigarette. More on the dangers of these device and the new bans currently being put together by the FDA."

For example... this could be bad news for us.
...as if we need bad press.

Fuel can pop off at any given moment, a simple spark is all it needs - ever hear of the people getting in and out of their cars and static shock sent their cars up?.... although always cheery around a campfire and toasty gooey marshmallows, think I can wait a few minutes for the 10.00 of gas to get in the tank... :)

Took the typing right out of my hands. Exactly my thoughts when I saw the thread.

HzG8rGrl I was actually thinking more of when I'm a passenger. I sit in the car and mya be inclined to vape, but would I be putting lives in danger I was thinking

I am no expert here by any means. I do not think anyone is in danger if you are sitting in the car.

I can't find any info on google about this guy from Utah?

Typical, the forum gets the news before the news channels!

What is the source of this information? where did the story emerge?

I don't doubt it, that's why I asked the original question but would like to read more )
