I don't know specifically about the IPV5, but my Koopor Plus has done what I would describe as about the same thing.

The buzzing sound is extremely slight and can only be heard in a very quiet setting and occurs when the screen is lit. I was assuming it had something to do with onboard monitoring of some kind.

Cheers mate, at first I thought it could be that but I don't think it's the screen on my IPV 5 because when the screen is lit up and i'm not pressing the fire button there's no buzzing it's only when I press the firing button.

The main thing I'm worried about is if the firing button is shorting when pressed.I've read some people have had auto firing problems with the IPV 5 because of dirt in the firing button causing a short. They seemed have fixed the problem by removing the button from the board and cleaning it.

Tryed taking my mod apart last night to do this but wasn't able to get the battery sled out to get to the board. I unsrewed everything but it seems like on this batch they may have also glued it in some how maybe. Going to have another go tomorrow after work to see if I have more luck but if anyone who owns a IPV 5 could jump in and give some advice about this buzzing I'd be very grateful. :)

I think its pretty normal, I have a few mods that do this, My Sig 150 was the first time I encounterd it, It has to be pretty quite to hear it. I also got it from a few others at times including the IPV D2, IPV4s, IPV5, Sig Fuchi 200w. come to think of it most of the ones that do it have a yihi chip, It has never effected the vape, but did freak me out a little at first too. But then again I have also had this happen with one of my Koopers as well, and that don't have a yihi,

Yeah I used to get this wih my IPV 4s too but only in temp control mode. From what I understand Yihi chips use PWM in temp control and what you could hear is the classic rattlesnake effect of PWM. Never had this in wattage mode or when I didn't have an atty on the mod with my 4s though so just seemed odd to me that I do with the 5s.

I'll have to try my Koopor plus with an RTA in wattage mode to see if it does it. Now that you mention it I don't think I've ever listened to it while it was in wattage.
