Hey guys, I've been lurking for a while. Finally decided to make an account a little bit ago and finally have an issue and was wondering if anyone has had the same problem.

Quick run down: Started vaping a while ago on some little V4L devices didn't like it after a while, decided to revisit vaping about a year ago and picked up a Provari and some Protanks and never looked back. Current set up is my Provari and usually a Kayfun Lite clone or an Aqua clone with a hippo v2 ring to make everything sit nice and flush. Microcoil with cotton builds is all I've done in them.

My issue is with a specific juice in my kayfun and aqua. I ordered some Angel Sauce from The Plume Room not too long ago, and it tasted great in my normal protank or aspire tanks, but whenever I try to use it in my rebuildables it gets the weirdest funky flavor.

So I guess I was wondering if anyone has had this issue with this juice, or other juices, when trying to use them in a rebuildable running a micro coil? Or maybe the cotton is the problem?

You might be using too much cotton. I find just a little goes a long way. When I use too much I definitely get a cottony taste.

Another thing is, and I'm new to the Russian, I've been using it 2 days now and I taste notes in my juice that I never tasted before using my Protanks and Igo-W. Nothing bad, but maybe you are tasting new notes in your juice and they just so happen to not be very appealing?

Edited to add.....oh and welcome to ECF!

I was running it on a 2ohm coil, and tried with voltages from 3.8 up to 4.5 and still had a funky chemically type taste that it didn't in my normal BC tanks. I'm not sure if the concentrated heat from the micro coils is doing this or what, hopefully I can figure it out because it tasted amazing before this started happening.

Edit since Timactionfigures ninja posted me while I was replying lol:
I will try again and be more mindful of the amount of cotton, although I haven't had that issue with any other flavors besides this one. I might try some echowool I have laying around, but that is a pain to thread through the micro coil usually.

I had a problem with my favorite RY4 in my Kayfun Lite clone. I tried everything from smaller to larger micros, cotton, boiled cotton, ekowool, organic yarn. Finally I went back to a simple silica wick and the funky taste went away. Every other juice was fine on just about any type of wick except that RY4. Must be something in the juice that changes from the concentrated heat of a micor coil. It's all I could figure out. Good luck.

On higher watts/volts you will taste different things. I tried Vermillion Rivers Kentucky Premium blend in a clearo and it tasted great. When I put it in a higher wattage setup with a micro coil all I could taste was old bay seasoning and shellfish. Even when I go back to the clearo I can only taste those notes now, just brings out every flavor in the juice.

Did you wash the tank before using? Most times they come with gross machining oils that they "forget" to clean before packaging.

Good point. Also, did you fire the wire before rolling the coil? Same goes for wire when it comes to machining oils or coolants. You'll need to burn that off either before or after you build the coil to get rid of the residue.

I think this will be what I try next

Yup all tanks were soaked in rubbing alcohol and washed a few times, and had already been used with other juices previously. I also torch my kanthal before wrapping coils.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. Once this coil wears out I'll probably give a silica wick a try to see if that may help.

Try a vertical coil with degummed hemp fiber... Its the best in my Taifun & Russian 91, no need for anything else in my book.
Great flavor, wicking, and no after taste, as long as it is washed and cleaned properly. Doesnt burn like cotton, has a higher temp tolerance.

Read thru this thread for more info..

Good Luck!!! :toast:
