    Somewhere between here and there
Hello and welcome. I’m very pleased today to be presenting you with a fair and honest review on the innokin Klypse Mecha Kit that was sent to me by innokin. The Mecha is an astoundingly beautiful pod kit that has a design that was inspired by Master Watchmakers and is built from premium grade zinc alloy. The Mecha has a 900mah internal battery that can be recharged via the USB-C charging port rated at 5V/.8A. It also offers adjustable airflow and adjustable wattage and is compatible with the Klypse pod cartridges.

    INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The packaging for the Klypse Mecha is very nice. You can really tell that Innokin put a lot of thought and effort into the packaging as well as the Mecha itself. The Mecha is designed after the inspiration of master watchmakers so it makes sense that there is a gear on the front of the box along with the name and color version on the front. I was fortunate enough that Innokin was generous enough to send one of each color version. The back of the box has a list of the package contents, company information, and appropriate symbols.

Once the box is opened then there is a black cardboard cover with a sketch of the Mecha. It was very difficult to see when sitting in the box but was able to hold it in the proper light in order to get a picture so I could show you.

Once the cardboard is lifted then inside you find the Mecha itself with the .6 ohm Klypse pod pre-installed along with a spare 1.2 ohm pod, user manual, quick start guide, and USB=C charging cable. Honestly, the pictures don’t really do these two devices justice. They are very sharp looking. My favorite is the Stardust Silver but both are exquisite. You can clearly see the watch maker inspiration from the gear designs on the front of each along with the adjustment knobs that look very much like the winding knob on a wrist watch. On the bottom is the display screen which I’ll cover in more detail later.

On one side of the Mecha is the USB-C charging port and on the opposite side is the sliding airflow control. The metal rod protrudes enough to allow for adjustment while not sticking out so far as to get moved accidentally. There is a decent amount of resistance on the airflow control to help it stay in place once adjusted. When fully closed it provides a pretty tight MTL type airflow while fully open will allow a fairly restricted RDL.

The pod opening of the Mecha has two magnets to hold the pod in place securely as well as the usual two plated electrical contacts and a raised airflow sensor. The Mecha is an auto draw only device despite having the adjustment knob that one would think was a fire button but isn’t. The bottom of the device has three round venting holes in case of battery failure as well as having the battery capacity listed which is 900mah/ 3.3Wh.

The Mecha comes with a .6 ohm pod pre-installed but also comes with a spare 1.2 ohm Klypse pod. The .6 ohm pod comes with a safety seal covering the bottom to avoid accidental firing before filling the pod. There are two magnets on the bottom also to help the pod stay in place. The pod doesn’t protrude that far out of the mod and is a little slippery so can be slightly difficult to remove for filling.

The Mecha is compatible with all of the Klypse pods including the available pre-filled pods. The .6 ohm pod comes with a black rubber plug for filling while the 1.2 ohm pod has a blue rubber plug. That is a nice touch to allow the user to quickly differentiate between the pods. The fill port opening is large enough to fit most bottle tips and if held at about a 45 degree angle when filling, it can be filled with no mess as the pods are clear enough to see the liquid level while filling. The Mecha uses the Innokin 2.0 chipset and has smart control depending on which pod is inserted into the mod. It limits you to a top wattage but you can go as low as you like.

The circular OLED display screen on the Mecha is really a nice touch. I don’t think it’s necessary to list the display items when the following picture explains it very clearly. The battery level ring displays green when the battery is 100-30%, blue when it’s yellow 10-30% and red under 10%. However, I will explain the operation for you.

    • Press the button 3X to turn the mod on/off
    • Press the button 2X to enter the menu where you will find Coil, Settings, and Cutoff options
    • To switch between options, turn the wheel and then press it firmly to select the option.

When making selections, you have to be kind of quick or the screen will switch back to the main screen. As you can see in the picture above, there is a time setting. However, neither one of the samples I received would keep the correct time. I could set the time and come back an hour later and the clock would be 3-4 hours off. Not sure what was going on there. I could set both samples and come back later and they would be off by different amounts of time.

    FINAL THOUGHTS:

It has been my pleasure to present you with the Innokin Klypse Mecha. The attractiveness of the devices in undeniable. Using watch makers as inspiration they have truly done a nice tribute. From the packaging to the devices themselves, Innokin has truly done a nice job on these.

It is definitely nice that all of the Klypse pods are compatible with the Mecha. I was already a fan of the .8 ohm Klypse pods and the new .6 ohm Klypse pod is a welcome addition. I personally am not much of a fan of the 1.2 ohm pod that was included along with the .6 ohm pod. I didn’t much care for the fact that the Mecha restricts the output to 11 watts on the 1.2 ohm pod. I really feel like it could have been run up to 13-14 watts to boost performance without damaging it. I used a guava green tea liquid in the 1.2 ohm pod that I am very familiar with and felt like the flavor came through pretty well but I would have liked the vapor to be a little warmer. The Mecha does have adjustable airflow so I was able to compensate some by closing it down but just wanted more power.

I used a NET tobacco liquid that I have been using for some time with the .6 ohm pod. This was an obvious favorite for me out of the two pods. The flavor and vapor production were very good with this one. I preferred the airflow control a little over half open for a loose MTL.

The only real con I have for the samples that I received is that both of them would not keep the correct time. I probably reset the clock on each one a dozen times and they would not hold the time and were usually at least 3-4 hours off.

I’d like to thank Innokin for sending the Innokin Klypse Mecha samples for this review. Also as always, thanks to the readers. Below is a link to the website for your viewing pleasure.
