Hi, I recently have had an Eleaf Ijust S and an Innokin Itazte Kroma and have decided that I want to upgrade to something more powerful. The second I read about the Smok Alien and about the tfv12 Cloud Beast King tank, I knew those were for me. But after doing a little more research I heard about a lot of Smok Alien's exploding because of the batteries. After looking more into that, I now know that the main cause is because of the user neglecting the batteries condition, so that brings me to the question I have for everyone here. What battery will be the best for me to use for vaping from 60-150 watts and where is a trusted website where I would be able to get 2 of these batteries for my mod?
Like I mentioned before, I'm also interested in the Tfv12 Cloud Beast King and may end up getting it instead of the Tfv8 Baby beast tank. I'm used to vaping at around 60 watts on my Innokin Kroma but want to do a lot more without burning my coils or overusing the battery. If you guys could let me know the biggest differences between the two, and the safest wattage for each, that'd be great. While the Tfv12 looks great, I only have so much money I want to spend at once for the vape, tank, and also juice.
All in all, I just want to know the safest way to use the Smok Alien, have the safest batteries, and know how to tell when my batteries are at an unsafe level and need to be replaced.
Thank you for your time!

Well, I haven't heard anything about battery explosions with the Alien. Tons of other problems but not that one. I have an Alien and AL85, and they're nice for what they are, but they're not temp control reliable. Fine in wattage mode. Generally, if you want to get through a day with a set of batteries, I'd suggest a 2 battery mod would be the best choice. For 150W (and is there really a need for you to go so high?) a 3 battery mod is more likely to last the day without swapping batteries every so often.

As for the batteries themselves, authentic brand name batteries like Sony, Samsung, or LG are your best options. Here you really do need to buy from a reliable vendor as there are lots of counterfeits on places like eBay. Here's a recommended battery chart from our battery guru Mooch. At the bottom you'll find several folks who are trusted sellers.

I have not heard of Aliens exploding either.. Leaking sometimes, or having coil issues, possibly but as far as the kit you choose, I'd go with the one that appeals to you most. As long as you use batteries from approved suppliers (near the bottom of the chart) that will suit your wattage needs, you should be fine. Aliens are regulated mods so it's unlikely that using a rewrap battery or one not suited to your wattage would blow up, it would more likely not fire. I think you can go ahead feeling relatively safe. As far as the tanks, if you really want higher wattage I'd go with the tank that you prefer, as well.

You will be able to tell when your batteries are degrading as their performance will worsen, meaning less time vaping before you get a low battery alert.

IDK about the exploding battery problem, but I really hate the SMOK Alien (The tank is nice though, I use it all the time). I've owned three of the 220w SMOK Aliens, and I've worked on two that my friend owns. They are just super cheaply built. The metal ones have such a bad paint job they are impossible not to get all scratched up. But the worst problem is the 510 connection. Every single SMOK Alien I've ever used, that connector has broke. Like it will start to spin around, pulling on the leads. And the solder is so crummy that it'll rip em right off. I have to take it completely apart, completely remove all the solder and gunk. Then re-solder everything back together, set it in a bunch of epoxy, and cover everything in liquid insulator. I've had to do this for every single SMOK Alien I own, plus the two my friend has. They are garbage.

I would advise against the SMOK Alien 220w, just from my own personal experience with them. The tanks though are pretty good. I see it as my basic work load tank. Nothing special or fancy, but it is simple, clean, and high capacity. Both the King and Baby work pretty much the same, the King just holds a lot more juice. With my King, I fill it up after it gets to about 30%. I'm a pretty heavy user and I only have to fill it once every two or three days. It'll last ya a week if you're fairly conservative.

The only aliens I've heard about or seen exploding are at the end of sci-fi movies! On a serious note.....

If you are considering pushing 150 watts, any dual 18650 mod should have at least 25 amp batteries which will diminish battery life. If battery life and safety are important to you, look at a 3 or 4 battery mod if set on hitting at 150 watts. Or you could consider something like the Smok GX2/4 that can be used in dual or quad battery configuration. Whatever route you take, be sure to marry your batteries (both in pairs and quad) and use a case if you carry spares!

just an FYI on the TFV12, there is a new TFV12 Prince tank out that looks very promising and got a good review by Djlsb. You might take a look:
