I'm a beginner with a lot of questions before ordering

Hi, I was going to order a EVOD (I don't think its Kanger EVOD 650mAh Variable Voltage Blister Pack Starter Kit - MyFreedomSmokes.com) and I wanted to know if it would be good for a beginner? Will it leak everywhere? How long will one head/atomizer last? I will not be using any nicotine and I was going to get a pina colada flavor with it, will that crack my tank:unsure:? I won't be vaping it heavy at all, maybe 25-30 moderate hits a day. For me it will be more of a hobby than a substitute to cigarettes/nicotine.

I've been really pleased with my eVod tanks, been one of my most reliable performers so far. I have a few of them and use them regularly on the go.

My only suggestion, coming from someone who wished he'd received this advice, is to definitely consider VV (variable voltage) batteries instead as your starter kit. It allows you to dial in the voltage a bit to customize the experience for different juices. You'll find some do well lower, and others higher...but it's nice to change it up. As for the heads, the eVod's are great...but also consider the Kanger Mini Pro-Tanks. They're a little bit more money, but they can handle any kind of juice, are a little bit "better" than the eVod's and should last a fair bit longer. It's not too much more to get into these items and it's where I wished I had started...but then again, I didn't know that until I tried them.

A coil will last somewhere between failing right out of the package, to a day to a week or two, depending on a lot. Failure aside, my average is around a week or so. Darker/thicker juices will last less time. In the vein of the hobby aspect, I rebuild my coils, so they're fairly cheap to maintain...and I'd rather get great flavor, so I probably replace on a little more cautious schedule than I used to. You might get more, or less, but definitely get extras!

Some tropical flavors can crack that tank, you'd have to check with the supplier to be sure. (They may not know, either!) Thus why I think it's wise to look at the mini-pro's instead. You just won't have to worry.

Welcome to ECF!

I'm not familiar with that particular device but from a quick look I'd say it seems somewhat weak... 650 is a pretty weak battery and although it is VV, a range of 3.5-4.1 Volts isn't much of a range, if you get it make sure to get some low res replacement heads (1.8 or lower)... and Pina Colada juice should not have any cracking/crazing issues...

I'm a big proponent of this kit for newbs. If you're looking to by a starter kit, don't know where to start, and are confused by all the options, this kit will cover EVERY recommendation that you're going to get here.

- Kanger EVOD ego battery
- variable voltage (you'll want this option soon enough, why not just start with it)
- KANGER Pyrex tanks
- extra coil heads
- A backup battery
- a quality wall charger
- bonus 510 bridge less dripping atomizer for tasting different liquids before committing to a tank full

The price is right too. The steammonkey silverback kit:

It's a generic battery, and not for someone who will be vaping heavily, but since you aren't and it has a lot of functions for the price, I think it would make a good intro to vaping kit. It got mype off cigarettes, and that was before ivape upgraded the kit with real Evods. Before, it was just a generic, clear, plastic clearo that took Evod heads. The battery is a 650 mah, variable volt (5 clicks to the next volt setting), passthrough (vape while charging). Evod/Protank heads are both the same coil heads now, and Kanger makes some of the more reliable products, so you should be good with an Evod unless there is citrus in that piña colada juice. In that case, get a Mini Protank II.

I bought the EVOD-V (variable voltage) and rev I is correct: one coil failed right away (but my smoke shop changed it out free) but 2 have lasted two weeks so far. Replacement coils are cheap and easy (5 for $10 locally) so not much of a concern for me. I was spending over $40 a week for cigars so I am way ahead.

Thank you all for your input, it has helped a lot. One last stupid/noob question, If I got 6mg of nicotine, having never smoked/vaped nicotine before, would it burn my throat really bad and get me addicted? I don't mind a very mild throat hit but I don't want any addictions.

I would stick with the zero nic if I were you. No need to introduce that if you arent already using it. Its kind of like the concept of caffeine - had I never had it I wouldnt miss it. If that makes sense. It wont necessarily get you crazy hooked, but there really is no purpose for it in this case.

I can only ask: Why do you want to vape if you don't smoke. If I didn't have to vape to get off of cigarettes, no way would I start. Save your money!!

I used to ask the same thing, Some people like it more as a hobby, others use it too quit smoking and some just want to get it to substitute the hookah that you can't stop using untill the coals all burned out. They will do what they want and no point saying otherwise Lol

Look into a Spinner with more of a battery like a 1000 or 1300
