Right now I'm running a 2.1 ohm coil in my A7 at 3.7v on my provari, and the hit is just right for the flavor that I'm using ATM.

First thing I would point out is 'who in their right mind would want to vape at 25 watts!, and point blank ... it can't be done with a single 3.7v battery. So forget about all that stuff.

I personally don't care for any of the rda's that rely on a side hole for air management (but that's just me), that's why I use the A7's.
There are plenty of people that like the Igo's, so I don't see the product as being the problem. I can tell you that I won't even discuss (in public) my first attempt at wrapping a coil, so don't feel bad because it isn't going as planned. Just keep at it until you get one working the way you want it to work.

Oh it can be done... It has been done, much much higher than 25 watts too. If you go check out what some of the rba dudes are talking about in their subforum, you'll freak.

If you are fine with low power vaping, and you aren't going to at least try to approach extreme vaping, then no, there is nothing special about an rba. Just use it for tasting new juices. Nothing wrong with that.

I am sorry that I cannot explain why high power vaping is better. I am trying, but we are on completely different wavelengths.

Here's a reality check for ya.
The lower the resistance - the more the voltage drop under load.

    P1000686_zps06466be6.jpg

It can't be done, the battery won't let ya. You would need a C rating of 30.
15 or so watts is the max that particular battery can safely produce.

I cant see your picture, so I don't know what you are trying to teach me here. I know about amp limits but not c-ratings. Never claimed to be an expert, just trying to help. Perhaps you could go visit the rba forum and tell all the good people there that they have been wrong all along.

I have some kanger bottom coils performing very well on ego batteries. Rebuilt coils and cotton wicks. 8-9 watts is about as high as I can go without burning. I also have a Bolt with a 18650 imr and an rba at about 1 ohm, ss mesh/silica hybrid wick. The rba absolutely blows any other device I've used out of the water. Probably twice as much vapor and almost too much flavor and throat hit. My setup is not extreme but it is good to me, and I thoroughly enjoy it.

Hrm... well I was just stating what I read elsewhere. Your claims have intrigued me though, and I've tried doing some research to prove or disprove them. Unfortunately, I can't find a good source of information to learn this stuff. Do you have a reference? I get the voltage drop part, that is just a property of a series circuit. Most people don't have the proper equipment to measure it, so they just use battery voltage. Also I realize that lower resistance at the coil means more voltage drop, because the internal resistance of the mod becomes more of a factor.

Does the voltage and resistance you are measuring mean the current draw is about 4.4 amps? And if so, does that mean your c-rating is 4C?

But see it still doesn't make sense to me.. you said if i build a coil at 3 ohms I would need some ridiculous voltage. why is that? I use standard resistance cartos and viva nova's that are 3 ohms or 2.8 ohms and rocking it at even as low as 4.8 volts works fine. Viva novas are practically the same crap as my IGO.. its a wick with a coil tied around it..
Yep, you are getting close to 8 watts with your Vivis and cartos. That is about as good as you can get them to perform without burning your juice/wick/filler, and there is nothing wrong with that.

With your 2 ohm build on the IGO, try 5 volts on the KGO. Your amp limit is 2.5, and that will put your right on it. Not accounting for voltage drop, this puts you at 12.5 Watts. The actual number will be lower, but it is still as good as your setup can do. It won't knock your socks off, but it should be pretty good.

Also, you are right that it is still just resistance wire wrapped around a wick, like everything else. Like I said, the difference is airflow, wicking speed, and coil surface area, which allows higher wattage before things start burning. This translates to more, warmer vapor. That said, it wont be much of an improvement over cartos and clearos on an ego-style battery.

Like another poster said you cant realy put more than 8-10 Wats into a carto without burning it up. . . The filler inside that is. . . So you can ise any ohms you want and adjust your voltage to get that 8-10 watts.

With an rba you can go as high as 25-30 watts and get insane flavor andvapor but you wont get there with a 3 ohms coil unless your vv devices go up to 10 or 12 volts. And has a 12 amp limit. lol
so you put it on a mechanical mod with no electronics to fail or short and use a high amp drain battery aw imr at 3.7volts and make a low resistant coil 1.0 or even.0.8 ohms with thick 28gage wire and there you go
3.7volts times 3.7volts = 13.69 divided by .8ohms = 17 watts of power. Imposable to pit that Much power into a carto it would burst into flames. But your rba will vape like a steam train with unmached flavor.

Edit. . . There is a specialTy battery store near my house that does flashlight mods and they have batteries there with a 20c rateing for continued draw. !!! They are square though and 4.2 volts. Was srsly thinking of making a 4.2v mechanical box mod using one however more research on thease is needed as i have not ever seen one till i went in the store. Its probably for some kind of remote control car or plane.

Thanks gentleman for the feedback, I guess I understand more now.. No matter what I am limited to my setup.. So let me ask you this.. For my particular setup.. would something like an HH dripping atomizer give me the best experience? Granted people using RBA's and all these builds and low ohms is the preferred setup, but I don't have a mechanical mod or even a regulated mod right now.. And besides RBA's everyone says the HH is great for flavor ...

I have to admit most of what you guys are talking about is a little over my head. But I think I got the basic jist of it. There are so many like genesis style atties.. I have no idea why one is better/worse than another.. they all look the same

    1. Take a torch or lighter and heat your wire up to make it ready to wrap a coil with.
    2. Wrap your coil on a nail, once you have the wraps you want slide the coil against the head of the nail and squish them tightly against it. When you let go you will see a perfectly rolled coil, like it was made in a factory.
    3. Keep the coil on the nail and install it on your Igo-s, once you tighten the screws down use the nail to get the coil to sit how you want it to sit(away from the posts).
    4. Remove nail
    5. Buy non bleached cheese cloth from amazon.com, boil it when you get it.
    6. Cut a VERY small piece of cheese cloth off, roll it in your fingers into a wick. You want it to be small enough to go through your coil doubled over.
    6. Cut a 2 inch piece of wire off and fold it in half. Fold your wick in half and use the wire to pull it through your coil on the igo-s. Trim access wick. You do not want a lot. Just enough to fill up the bottom of the igo-s.
    7. Make sure the wick is completely saturated with juice, if the wick is dry the cotton will burn instantly. After this initial primer you don't have to worry about it, because the wick will always be wet enough and wont burn before you know its time to drip again.
    8. Enjoy a perfectly made coil with the correct amount of wick.
    9. If you want more vapor drill the air hole out with a 1/16 drill bit, enjoy the tasty clouds.

A lot of people roll their coils too tight, and strangle their wick. This method eliminates that and allows you to make a perfect coil every time. You can even replace the wick every few days if you want and use the same coil for a long time.

Wow thats some tip thanks. I never even heard of this method before. No one on youtube talks about it.. Im assuming I can't use the silica wick i have because I probably couldn't get it through the coil.. or is cotton just a lot better.. People have told me to do it tight around the wick so theres more contact.. interesting.. I guess if I buy some cheese cloth .. I need to try this. What sized nail should i use to wrap the coil around. and when you say push the coil against the head of the nail.. Im assuming the tighter the coils are to each other without touching the better?

For the nail diameter, or whatever else you use as a "template" (that's what I call it), anything between 1/16" and 1/8" will work fine. The size really isn't critical, but you can experiment to find what you like best. I use a syringe needle for small coils and a basketball pump needle for bigger ones. You can squeeze the freshly wrapped coil together to even it out a bit.

I find silica difficult to push through a coil, so I usually just wrap right around silica. It's tougher to get a nice coil this way without damaging the wick, but lots of people do it this way. Cotton is easier because you can roll and squeeze the tip down so you can thread it through, just fluff it up after it is through. Silica should fit somewhat snug, but cotton should be a tad loose because it expands as it gets saturated with juice. The advantage silica has is that you can torch and dry burn it in place, but imo cotton is easier to work with. Both can produce good flavor.

I agree with you, my aga t+ cobra clone and especially the igo l suck. I had high hopes on the igo because so many people rant and rave. I get no taste at all, very little vapor at all and yea cartos do blow them away. The only thing that has cartos beat that I've found lately is my vmod xl with an hh357. That mod and atty combo changed my whole view on vaping. If you get the igo working let me know please because mine sits on the shelf collectin dust.

Weird IGO-L is my favorite setup. Just goes to show everything is subjective in the vaping world.

Maybe you are wrapping the coil too tight and choking the wick that will give a burnt taste and bad vapor production. I found that if I can move my coil across the wick it wicks great. The vapor production and flavor on my igo s is amazing. Just a suggestion, but just don't give up. I still love my boge cartos too I just enjoy rebuildables
