Twice in two days. The fire dept was confused. Roommates were royally p'offed, lol.

Older fire alarm models use a light based technology to detect smoke. Anything that impedes the light sensor inside of it will set off the alarm, including thick enough vapor, or vapor carrying some kind of big enough dust particle. Newer alarm systems use ions to detect only smoke so you can vape away.

Interesting, also glad I took notice of this as I have friends living in older apartment complexes where I know the smoke alarms haven't been changed in a long while. Have to remember to take high-PG liquids (low/no vapor) on visits so I'm not setting off the whole building's alarm system!

FWIW I just tested my own apartment's detectors by blowing a cloud of 60/40 off an Evod/Vamo setup, nice big cloud, totally covered the detector and alarm both, not a peep.

Hell, I used to live in one building with an ancient, as far as smoke detectors go, hard wired system. We couldn't boil water in that apartment without tripping the smoke detector. It was constant up and down, up and down disabling the damned thing every time you wanted to cook something - anything. These really old detectors need to be rounded up and shot.

OP: Sorry to hear about the dialysis. Even more sorry you can't vape there.
