I dropped my Grand and broke it. :(

Butterfingers here dropped my favorite grand onto concrete and broke it. The cartomizer popped off when I dropped it. So after examining the Grand for dings I went to screw the cart back on and it won't thread. So I looked at it a little closer and the threads were gone from the cart. Fortunately they're not lost cause they are now stuck inside my catch cup on my Grand. Anybody got any ideas on how to get it out? I tried putting the stripped carto back in there to see if I could catch it and twist it back out but that doesn't seem to work. Suggestions? Or is it time for a back to Rob roadtrip?

Without a picture it hard to tell but you might be able to unscrew it with needle nose pliers.

A pair of small needle nose pliers, particularly if you have the ones with the angled tips, might do the job. Insert the nose in, open it to catch the inside of the carto connector, unscrew it.

Alternately a semi-blunt smallish nail or safety pin. Put it in at an angle to the carto connector, see if you can catch the sidewall and start it coming out.

Reasonably gentle is key. You are just trying to catch the connector wall and start it unscrewing.

You gave me an idea! I'll try a pair of hemostats and see if I can fiddle around with it that way and get it out.

Yes, the carto broke off the grand leaving a piece in it. Thus the appropriate title for this thread should be "I dropped my Grand rendering it inoperable."

For sure. I was afraid it was going to be pretty scratched up when I picked it up after it's tumble, but there wasn't a mark on it.

I do this all the time if your stuck for hemostats or needle nose pliers a blunt stick works just press it down on the atty carto and unscrew kinda like using a screw driver

funny thats exactly what i was thinking I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've dropped my metal Reos and I've broke several cartos off at the the threads

This thread is a simple reminder why 1 allways needs to have a backup Reo at all times Not that theres a huge concern of the Reo breaking but more likely of us doing something stupid to it
