Sooo I took my washing out of the dryer just now and my vaporiser fell out, I turned it on and seemed to work, but I didn't try and heat the element. I've just put it in a bag of rice cause I know you're supposed to do that with phones, but do you guys think I broke the heating element? If it helps at all the battery is the Kanger Ipow 2...

Hi and welcome to ECF @omesh ! Ooo, no bueno. Sounds like you batt is going to be fine after a good dryout, lucky!

You don't say what coil you have on it. A good rinse in hot water and a dry burn would fix a lot of coils. No reason the washer or dryer should have "broke" your coil, but I'm with 2naphish, if it has a non-changeable wick, I'd toss it.

ALWAYS have spares if you can afford it. CRAZY stuff like that happens, and backups are so important to keep you in vape. :) Enjoy the forums, hope to see you around!

Hello, and welcome to ECF. Rice doesn't really draw moisture out of circuit boards, unless it's being in direct contact. Better solution would be to get silica-based cat litter from a pet store, which is hygroscopic, and draws water out of the air. You could also buy silica gel directly from the net for cheap, or just get moisture removers and dismantle the "bricks" used in them. If it works, then hooray. If not, there are tons of sites to get similar batteries really cheaply.

As far as breaking the heating element, I don't think so, but it might've trapped washing detergent, which is quite harmful as-is, nevertheless when vaporized/atomized through the heating element in your e-cig. If it's not a replaceable coil tank, I would just toss it and get a new one just in case.

I would not want to use that battery.
A lithium battery that's been soaking away in soapy water, then knocking around inside a hot electric dryer.......

as for the tank / coil part there is no real damage.

And the absolute best way to make sure that no crazy things happen is to have plenty of spares. It's strange, but the universe just seems to work that way.

no spares = crazy things happen
lots of spares = crazy things never happen

Alton Brown on Food network talked about rice not drawing moisture out, unpopped popcorn will though. I thought it was a neat experiment how he demonstrated it.
