I have to correct you on one part. He used a hammond aluminium box and I think he said he drilled a vent hole in it.

Yea, I corrected myself in my original statement, either way, venting is not gonna save that switch.

I put a 5 amp on my mods and use a 35amp bat but very rarely go less that .7ohm

Most Hammond boxes do look good. The instruction video shows what is to be done, simply.
IMHO, you can't call these "Mechanical". However, they are certainly "Unregulated"

2 batteries wired to a switch and a spring loaded 510.. no real difference. Just smaller.
