I love using the syringe. My husband tells people about my "Breaking Bad" vaping lab.

Hah. Yeah. The first time I started hunting around for vials, and glass droppers, I almost felt like I should order a bunsen burner and a set of beakers. Hmmm, maybe that would steep juice faster.

Can someone help me with these last couple of questions?

I think I get the general gist of it. Thanks for the quick replies!

A couple more questions - I read that it's good to let the e-liquid settle in the cart before puffing away. Should I lay the cartomizer down and roll it around for a few minutes or should I attach it to the battery first and then roll it around?

Also, do I have to worry about inhaling any primer with these cartomizers? Should I not inhale the first few puffs?

There is no primer in the cartomizer. There is only primer in new atomizers. As long as it looks full to you, try it.

Just don't let it get dry. Just top it off with a couple drops of juice when you think about it. Don't flood it, but don't let it get dry because it can burn the batting. Then you have to throw it away.

To fill, a syringe is hard to beat, once you get past any possible squeamishness about it (you can get them with blunt needles). In a pinch, you can carefully slide a paper clip down the inside of the shell. As you drip juice in, that will help it run down further. I try to let them sit a while before firing it up. If it hasn't soaked in to the coils, you can burn it too easily.

I store filled ones (that I plan to use soon) with condoms on both ends, and horizontally, thinking it would keep the top coil filler wetter. I have been told it does not help. It doesn't hurt, as far as I can tell!

For cleaning, I cut up a condom, zip-tied it to a syringe, can flush out one in 30 seconds. I use iso alcohol, it seems to cut the gunk, dries faster than water, and it won't mold. It's also fast to fill cartos, but I mainly use it for cleaning.

A clear one can get looking pretty gunky, I can get it back to bright white with just a few swooshes with a 20 ml syringe of iso.

A fresh DC Smoktech on the device, and a spare filled one is my "go to work" rig. I vape it moderately till noon, then I just swap to the other one. I don't wait for it to lose flavor. After work @ home, I vape with something else, then I top them both up each night.

Hate to be such a pain in the ... but one last question. After filling up a bunch of cartomizers, what's the best way to store them? Should they be stored vertically with the battery side down or laid down horizontally?

Sideways for convenience seems fine. It's never given me a problem like that. I just toss them in a baggie, or a portable charger case, or a drawer, or whatever. I haven't noticed a difference, as long as it's filled properly in the beginning, the juice should stay in place, in the cartomizer.

Did you ever try removing the plastic? I rinse it, dab it dry and it's dry within 5 minutes

I do think that the way you use them they do last longer that way.

Swedishfish, no, I have never taken a clear one apart to clean it. I use a Darwin, longer cartos are nice on it because the arm folds down flat against it, and it is easy to carry in a pocket. I read somewhere that someone had one come apart after disassembly, don't really want that to happen in my pocket.

If you want to fill your clear dc's easy, I have found a method that works great for me. I take a cartridge that is used for atomisers ( every Riva kit I have came with 10 and I can't through anything away). I cut about 1/4 " off the atty end and remove the mouthpiece and inner piece (with the small hole in it) with a paper clip. Then I insert this modded cart into the open end of the carto until it stops. I then drip 10 drops at a time into the end , blowing VERY gently into the mouthpiece to clear the chamber and force the eliquid into the batting. I can get 50 drops in there in about 30 sec. If it gurgles, you put too much in at a time or its full. If that happens, I flip it over and VERY gently blow into the batt end until no gurgling. I stress the gently because I have found if you blow too hard, the liq tends to siphon into the center tube. I have used this on 510 cartos, and g4's, but i didn't know how good it worked until I got the clear dc's. WOW. It filled the whole thing clear to the bottom with NO MESS. You may have to cut a hair more off the cart for boge cartos, so the end doesn't touch the batting, or you won't be able to blow in it. For someone who hasn't seen a cart, the reason this works, is becase there are two channels that run along either side that are used for airflow when you are using it with a atm. My way forces the liq to run down those channels into the outer edges of the carto automatically.
Try it...you'l love it. I hopes this helps somebody.
