Yup new here. So i got this awt imr 18650 3000mah 3.7v 40a (red) battery and what wanna know is how long do i charge it ? i got the x-tar mc2 charger with 2 bay in it. and the light never turns green so i never know when its full or not. i dont know if the charger is the problem or the battery. any insight on this ? i have charge it about 3 times already for about 5 hrs and one time i went 6 hours and still nothing. and as soon i pop it in my vtc mini after i take 3-5 puffs the battery display reduced instantly is that normal ?

any advice ? thanks

I will guess the battery. I don't care what it says on the label, if it has 3000mAh capacity, it doesn't have a 40 amp CDR. As to time, that Xtar is a good charger, but they get slow to charge if your battery starts to heat up in the tray, and yours probably is. Check out the charge rate on the display, vs. how discharged. My Xtar shows the battery voltage in 10 increments, each indicating appx 10% of total battery capacity. If it is charging at 500 mA/hour-- mine reads that as .5A-- and the battery is completely flat, it would take nominally 6 hours to charge. In practice, it will take longer because as the battery fills up the machine charges slower to avoid battery damage and to cram the most power into it. So 10 hours or longer on a battery 8f that capacity is not unreasonable. What you need is a spare battery. In fact, get 2: Samsung 25Rs, or LG HE2s or HE4s. Those are 20 amp batteries--real 20 amp batteries, where your AWT is a rewrap-- with 2500 mAh capacity. LG also makes the HG2, which is 3000 mAh and 20 amps; and AW makes an IMR 3000 mAh 18650 as well. Go that route and you won't have any problems.

I agree with supertrkr on the battery recommendation. I run the LG HG2 in mine and they last pretty much all day. It is also possible that the AWT has been discharged to low and the charger just wont charge it. I let a friend borrow a mod and he ran the batteries down till the mod shut off. After that my D4 charger just didn't wont to charge it.
