How do I properly use the temp control on my Eleaf iStick TC40W?

Hi, I recently purchased an istick TC40W and an iJust 2 Atomizor and am EXTEREMELY happy with it! But when I change the temperature setting and vape at say 220C it will automatically sent it at it at 20 watts. It gives me the option to change it but if I go back to the temperature setting and change it up or down even in the slightest it will then again default at 20W. I REALLY enjoy the feeling of the temperature and when it goes to the wattage mode it doesn't stay at that temperature. The manual wasn't very through so maybe I just don't know how to use it. I have never used an electronic cigarette that had a temperature control function so I probably am just ignorant as in how to use it but I NEED to learn.

Do you have Nickel coils in your atomizer? Without Temperature Control coils it won't work.

You need iJust 2 TC Atomizers 0,15Ohm. For your safety please don't fire your device if you don't have proper coils.

On my istick, when in temperature mode, the wattage is always locked at 40 watts. It will fire at forty watts until temp limit is reached, then it throttles back the power so that the set temperature is not exceeded. At this point, the display flashes 'Temp Protection'. I set mine for C instead of F for temperature, and it is still at forty watts. Yours should not default to 20 watts when in temperature control mode.

When in temperature control mode, the temperature is shown in the large display; in wattage mode, the wattage is shown in large figures. Check your display to make sure you are in the correct mode; the small button in the middle when held down will switch modes.

Did you lock the resistance in before firing it the first time (fire button + up button)? If not let it cool down for a while 15-30 minutes then lock the resistance.

Does Locking the Resistance change things much if you are Starting with a Room Temperature Coil/Atomizer?

When changing atomizers, unlock the device FIRST (hold down the FIRE and UP buttons together for a moment). The lock symbol will go away and be replaced by an ohm symbol (if you see this symbol instead of a lock then it is already unlocked). Then turn the mod off by clicking 5 times. Change the atomizer, and always use a cool atomizer that is roughly the same temperature as the mod. Turn the device on by clicking 5 times and let it read the resistance. Pulse the fire button and it may ask if it is a 'new coil' or the same coil'. Answer by pressing the UP or DOWN button. Then lock the device (by holding down the UP and FIRE buttons until it you see the padlock symbol reappear, then release) to keep the resistance setting from changing.

The TC40 is either in temp mode or wattage mode. In temperature mode, the wattage is always set to the full 40 Watts and is not adjustable. Adjust the temperature to your taste.

With a nickel coil, you should lock in your resistance with the both the TC40 and atomizer at room temperature. Hold the fire button and up button at the same time until the lock symbol appears next to the atomizer resistance on the display.

This is something I experienced before. And it's also something that I have noticed on my smok xcube 2 by accident. The tc40 is locked at 40 watts in tc mode. If it does not reach a temp limit within an alotted timeframe it will assume it's not nickel and switch over. And I can't speak for everyone else but I know I can't get any vapor production on any coil below 390F. Now that I have two tc mods I can confirm that the tc40 is the farthest thing from accurate. BUT it is consistent which is good.

Try upping your temp to somewhere above 400f and see if that helps.

What will happen if I use my normal Ijust 2 EC HEAD that it origionally shipped with? because I have some of those as well.
