I've been staying in a hotel since monday, vaping normally as I have at dozens of other hotels. Yesterday I found a local Vape shop and bought some caramel milk eliquid. Brought it back to my room and put it in one of my reo's and started vaping as usual, no cloud chasing, but not tootle puffing either. After a few puffs, the smoke detector goes off. 30 secs later, the manager is at my door. After he comes in and sees nothing, he asks if I'd been burning a candle or something, cuz something smells sweet. I tell him no candles and shrug my shoulders. He says he'll reset the alarm and to have a good night. I thank him and he leaves. I'm wondering WTH. Now I'm really bummed and scared to Vape in my room anymore, but it's ok cuz I'm on the ground floor near the door, so I start going outside. A little later I fall asleep watching tv and when I wake up I decide I'll just go in the bathroom with the door closed for a few puffs like I used to do with cigs and then go to bed. Sure enough, as soon as I open the door the alarms goes off again! So I quickly call the front desk and tell the manager it must be another false alarm and he says "ok, I hope it doesn't happen again" in a somewhat stern tone. Today I wondered to myself, what if it's the new juice? So I've only been vaping the other two I have, albeit less than usual, and no alarms. Anyone think it could be that some juices are more prone to set off the alarm than others, or am I just overthinking this?

Does the new juice have a different PG/VG ratio than the ones that haven't set off the alarm?

Regardless, if I were you, I'd prolly just go outside to vape until you check out. Yes, that sucks, and shouldn't be necessary, but you've got a temperamental little bugger of a smoke alarm to deal with and each additional false alarm is more likely to result in a hassle with hotel management.

The pg/vg isn't much different than the other two, only 10% higher vg, but it does have a much stronger flavor and it leaves a lingering smell in the room. Unfortunately, outside is the best solution.

I have found that smoke detectors with an Optical Sensor will go off from vaping.

The two primary types of residential smoke detectors contain either ionization or photoelectric sensors. Each type of smoke alarm detects distinctly different types of fires, so dual sensor alarms, which utilize both types of sensors, have risen in popularity.

No such thing in New York as a Smoking Room anymore. I once asked a Rental Agent about vaping in the Rental Car when they made a major point of explaining charges for smoking. The Manager had to address the question and I explained there is NO Combustion and No Tobacco Products and No Smell. I vaped in the office so he could take a whiff of the cloud and said as long as it does not smell he saw no problem with it. Not sure if the rules have changed since it was a few years ago.

I vape in rental cars all the time.

I used to smoke in them too when I was a smoker. Crack the window enough to suck the smoke out and make sure the windows are all down to air out any lingering for the drive back to the rental company. Never got charged. Must have worked.

I guess I am a bit of a renegade.

To me the idea of vaping in a small room that is not home within close proximity of smoke detectors becomes alot different, you may want to TRY and use the stealth vape technic and or blow down to the carpet or under the sheets, it's a really good moisturizer for your legs.
Rental cars, why in the world would you even bother asking the agent for permission to vape ?
