I agree with Stevegmu that it does depend on what type they use. Also the size of the room, and if you are in a cloud blowing contest. :)

Why don't you call the hotel and ask them. Just say you are considering staying with them and that you vape. You really don't want to be in a smoking room if you don't have to. I have had to be in them for decades and will never again. Worst case senario, is you have to go outside, like when you smoked.

I think you should be ok since it's not actual smoke but vapour: I went to a Hilton Honours this year which I belive is all none smoking and I vaped with no problems setting of the smoke detector :)

It doesn't matter what it is, if it has an optical sensor. Once smoke, vapor or steam enters the chamber, it will be set off.

My kids set off our smoke detector after their 45 minute hot showers. I would assume most smoke detectors would.

If it goes off just say you were using a vicks vaporizer on high, a portable one.

Test it out at your house. Take a puff and blow it into youe smoke detector. Took me about 50 tries when no one was home to get it to go off. I had the good sense prior to call the alarm company first.

wouldn't a hot shower set it off, it that were true

Yes, if they had a smoke detector with an optical sensor in the bathroom, without a fan on. I haven't been in a hotel that I can think of that had an optical smoke detector in the bathroom, or one that didn't turn on the fan when the lights for the bathroom were turned on.
