Hey Guys, just got my first Rebuildable atty today. A GP spheroid. How do I prevent hot spot? I am used to my mini nautlis and compared to that this is tasting very burnt and just really ....ty. When I look at the coil it gets red hot at the part closest to the posts. The middle doesn't really get red. What am I doing wrong? I am using the wire they gave me, it says .15N Im getting over 3 ohms with 5 wraps.

That's actually the exact vieo I followed. I wraped the wire around the silica wick. I am not sure of the wire, GP included it with the spheroid. It says 0.15 seems extremely thin compaired to what most vape sites sell, I cant even find wire that thin. I think that would come out to like 36 guage wire. But anyhow, I am so new at this I don't even know what question to ask. I just copied what I saw. Wrap wire around silca, connect to posts, vape. It was vaping but tasted extremely ....ty and not much vapor at all. I could have been inhaling burnt wire for all I know, lol. Im so lost.

you might get a little more feedback if you post a pic of your build to show us what you got going on maybe someone will see something obvious right off the bat just a suggestion though sometimes just a quick glance can clear it all up

with what you said it sounds like a hot leg issue to me maybe try a microcoil rather than a spaced out coil if thats what you tried so far if this is wrong in my assuming im sorry and a pic might help more for me too

wrapping neatly around a skinny flimsy silica wick takes some finese. try it with a tiny needle along the side of it while you wrap it, you have a better chance of evenly but slightly snugged and spaced coils that way. keep the legs short to the posts, but not touching. I don't think I've used anything under 32 gauge for anything..keep at it.. also to try is annealing (torching the kanthal first):vapor:

Tiny crack in the wire can cause it. But I do not insist it is true.
I do not make rebuildables any more but I do rebuild protank coils and use them for long times (rewiking). Some coils can go from 1.8 ohm to something like 2.2 ohm (because of thinning with time) and then they have localized thinning and only small part of coil gets hot. Then even at relatively high wattage almost no vapor - time to replace coil.

after watching your video (thanks by the way) it definitely looks like the hot legs i got when i used genesis atomivers in the beginning and my first suggestion would be if you dont wanna go with a micro coil to try tweaking the position of the individual wraps to space them totally even and see if it improves i know with spaced wraps like that i had to do a ton of fidgeting with my wraps to improve/solve a hot leg coil.

hope this helps atleast a little bit its a place to try starting anyways

Basically hotspots appear in coil because of uneven surface/form of the coil, in short take a steps in above picture to make sure your coil is in perfect form (evenly spaced or no space at all and no dent in the wire).
Try to pulse fire it few times, at the end the glow should come from the middle to outward

Ok thank yiu. I will try that now. that's how new I am, I didn't know a neat coil had any effect on performance.

I got it heating up somewhat evenly. It seems like it burns the juice so fast I smell something other than vapor. It has a nasty smell. I hope its this .... wire they gave me. Not sure why they would include such a strange wire. Everyone I know uses Kenthal about 32-28 guage. And they give me 36 guage N wire?? lol, ya know? Not good for a n)ob to be using some weird azz set up. I don't know, right now I am bummed because my cheap mini nautlis tasts and works great, I thought this GP spheroid would be magical. I hope I can get the hang of this. I really don't know whats wrong. I am doing 4 wraps and getting 3 ohms, that seems so high to me but I hae no idea. Could be perfect for all I know. I just know it taste bad. Not sure why? Don't know if its burning? Don't know if its the silica? No Clue.

when i used silica i used to make the coil a little bit bigger than the silica and took a scrap of kanthal and bent in half layed the silica in the crease and used the kanthal to pull the silica through the coil already looped (sorry for the cheezy paint image hope it makes sense)

Thank you for the tip. Greatly appreciated.

Use a straightened paper clip or needle (suggested above) along side the silica when wrapping your coil. It will allow you to wrap a consistent coil and not choke the wick. The results will Suprise you.
Ok will do. Thank you all for the help. I am getting a little defeated as I have been at this since 3pm est. I want to graduate with my fellow vapors and make my own coils. The Mini nautlis was so easy, sucks this Spheroid is so difficult right now, I am an OCD person and I will not stop until this thing works right.....problem is, I don't even know what "works right" is?
