Fortunately, this button will fit perfectly...

Weld the positive(red) in the cap to the button. isolate welding with tape.

Make a hole in the battery empty case for the usb wire. Secure the wire with a knot inside and one outside

Make a coil with some copper wire and weld the negative wire (black) to it. It will make contact with the battery case.

Weld the positive wire (red) from usb cable to the botton and isolate with tape, with a piece of wood or some non conductive material secure the button in the cap hole. Combine the cap and the battery case and put some tape to fix them.

For best vaping experience use an usb hub with power. This is 5V 1000 mAh. I tried whit 510 NR atty, cartom XL 510 NR. No Problem, Is like you use the original battery but infinite power.
Good Vaping.

I just threw one of these together using an old dead eGo clone battery and the cord from an old dead pt. I have a wall adapter and a car lighter adapter. On both of these when I press the switch on the pt, the light goes out on the adapter. It works just fine when plugged into my computer, but I have read that these things can kill a motherboard. Any thoughts?

Try with an external usb Hub with wall power plug. It must be at least 5V 1000 mAh. Works fine for me :) see the picture ;)

You could eliminate the knot on the outside, if it isn't holding from the inside, then some glue in there, or tie around a thin dowel that wedges into place. Also, if the press fitting is in good shape you really don't need the tape either. You don't need to have it pocket ready sturdy, it just has to survive couch activities. :)

I suppose these homemade passthroughs only work for a 5v system, and would burn out 510 attys made for 3.7v systems?

Forgive lowly, most ignorant student of mod making but is correct that all passthru without battery are 5 volt? The only attys that would get burned out are the LR type;regular attys would be fine.
