I genuinely think this is user error. Mods all read coils differently and there are machining differences. Also, some mods consistently read slightly high, or slightly low. I genuinely think there is NOTHING wrong with the coils OR mod, and I would likely contact Amazon and indicate it was user error, though if they're letting you keep a free mod that works, well, they are and it's not going to make a huge difference for them in the grand scheme of things.
If you were trying to run non-tc coils as TC (and that is a labeling issue) then they will burn out. If you are trying to vape at too high a wattage, they might burn out. I respectfully suggest using lower wattage as the lower the wattage, the less likely your coils are to burn. Was your "first" coil the coil that came preinstalled in the tank? If so, if you still have it you should check which coil it was, you may have been vaping something different without knowing it. (Or, you could look at the product specs page and see which coil it came with it).
You may have had a different coil, one that was slightly more tolerant of higher wattages, or you may have been new to vaping and not started noticing taste differences as much until your tastebuds came back completely.
I genuinely think there is not a problem here, other than perhaps user error. I could certainly be wrong, but priming your coils very thoroughly and staying at a reasonable wattage (that may even be below manufacturer specs for the coil, I do that all the time) will likely help your coil life.
Also, did you change juices? Some vape well with a particular coil, others don't and will taste "burnt" at lower wattage than other juices.
Just throwing some stuff out there...

Good luck solving the problem.
