I have a local vape store that makes a good ejuice that tastes like those butterscotch candies in the yellow wrapper. They have tons of TFA bottles in there mix room and they have some other bottles with small flags on them (USA flags?).

I have been into making my own DIY juice for about 3 months and I have made some decent stuff (most from recipes I got on this forum) but I cant seem to recreate this juice. I have around 2-3 different recipes that I have tried and I cant seem to get it done.

I have come to the conclusion that alot of the reason is my main flavoring "butterscotch" isnt good enough. I have the TFA butterscotch flavoring but I find that it really isnt what I am looking for. I also have loranns butterscotch and I find it to be better then the TFA for recreating these candies, especially when I mix it with caramel candy, bavarian and/or sweet cream, and sweetner. But its still not quite "there" yet.

I am thinking of getting the flavorwest butterscotch to try in my recipes and see if that helps. Is there any other companies that sell a butterscotch flavoring that might help?

Does anyone have any input that might help with my attempts at recreating those little candies? Thanks.

My latest attempt (in five 5ml tries)

10% Butterscotch (loranns)
5% Caramel Candy (TFA)
4% Bavarian Cream (TFA)
2% Sweetner (TFA)

DraX, you might want to check out the DIY forum here DIY E-Liquid for answers. There's also a recipes section there. Once you have 5 posts (and wait until :25 after the hour for the forum server to reset), you can post your question. I'm afraid that in this section, you will mostly get people trying to help out by recommending their favorite vendor's butterscotch liquid.

Good luck! And welcome to ECF!

edited to add: After reading your post more carefully, I would guess you already know about the DIY forum. Still, get your 5 posts in, so you can ask there! :)

Stick with what you have - just try a few tiny alterations-dropping the butterscotch and upping the caramel candy. Maybe a swap out of Bavarian Cream TFA for Whipped Cream TFA.

Maybe do 2 sample 3ml batches with 7.5% butterscotch and 7.5%caramel - the rest of yours identical and the other 7.5%,7.5% and whipped cream in place of bavarian. A few drops of Loranns butter rum (literally a FEW drops lol its potent) may help too. I think you are on the right path - just try tiny changes and see where that lands you in the taste.

I recall seeing and making a good butterscotch and it was like yours but the caramel and butterscotch flavors were equal and in the 7-8 ballpark.

The DIY forum will provide tons more info once you can post there, but hopefully this helps a little!!

thanks everyone for the replies.

evgeny131, thanks for the info.

LisaR, Thank You, I am trying to get my 5 posts in to get over there.

CreepyLady, Hmmm, I never thought of whipped cream. I already have butter rum on my "next flavors to order" list but didnt know it was that potent, I would have really messed that up, first try. I will try another trial run with my percentages of butterscotch and caramel candy more equal. Good info.

I was super glad that I tried a teeny bit of the butter rum in a trial batch alone first - cause OMG it was BUTTER RUM. LOL. I put a lot of my flavors in little single flavor baby batches at 10% one flavor just to see what a flavor tastes like - then I have a better idea to start high or low on the percentage in a mix. Also in the DIY you will see threads for the different flavor manufacturers - they have these awesome lists that the members add to constantly with info on percentages, flavor, ratings etc. Super duper helpful!

CreepyLady, When I started I would test every flavor in small batches by themselves at 8-10%, like you mentioned, to test their strength but I have around 50 flavors now so I just got overwhelmed/lazy and stopped doing that. I have had to learn the hard way on some flavors like pear which is VERY strong and takes over. Some flavors like cantaloupe are weak and easily overridden by other flavors. Trial and error is a big part of this and I dont mind most of the time, as its fun, and I have had decent luck so far. In all my research I must have missed those lists you mentioned about ratings and percentages. I will look into that. That would save some time and pg/nic/vg. I ordered butter rum (lorann) and whipped cream (TFA). I cant wait to try the butter rum in a recipe I found for butter rum lifesavers. Thanks for all the input. :)

Vash, Thanks, that solves that. Now I know what my local store uses for flavorings. I like a couple of there mixes and I want to reproduce them. I Just dont buy premixed ejuice anymore. I spend enough on everything else. lol
