My wismec rx200 got some drink poured over it. I took the old batteries out dried it and got some new ones.

When i insert the batteries the display does not turn on but the device just starts to fire. I took my tank off and tried again i just hear a clicking noise as it is firein without a tank.

I took away the batteries and connected it to mu computer after updating the software whille plugged in to my computer the display is on and everything seems to be working fine. Could this be a issue with the new batteries? I bought 3 18650 2500mAh 3,7v ?

Anyone got any tips on what i can do?

okay first question... did you let it dry out before trying to fire it after the spill? i don't mean did you wipe it out, did you let it dry.

Yes i did.

When i plug it into the computer without batteries it turns on and seems to function. I just tried putting in the batteries while its plugged in and it continues to work but shows 0 battery and says check batteries

Which batteries are you using again? I mean, they sound like VTC5a, but they can be something else...

I would personally dunk it in isopropyl, which sadly might damage the finish, but it will dissolve any residue from said drink left on the board. Then let it dry thoroughly 24-48 hours near a radiator or some form of flameless heat, and then try firing it up.

There might still be some residue on the battery terminals in the mod. Try cleaning those off with some rubbing alcohol and a q-tip first before anything else.

edit: before I'm verbally castrated, that is how I saved a different mod.

I go with the rice solution.
Simple logic. It's wet. It's shorting. You either have already fried the unit in which case nothing will help. Or there is still moisture in the unit and putting it in a bag with dry rice for a week will dry it out.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PLUG IN OR PUT BATTERIES IN UNTIL YOU ARE 100% SURE THAT THE UNIT IS DRY.
BAD THINGS CAN HAPPEN!!

Yeah I've always heard 1 to 2 weeks so I go a little longer just to make sure

since its "broken" ...
there is probably some residue from the drink on the board inside shorting out something...
soak the whole thing in isopropyl alcohol for an hour or so and then remove and let dry for several hours ... it may remove the residue causing the short... be sure its totally dry before using, check for alcohol smell to assure its dry.

I'd hate to be wrong but I think it's new mod time for you. Only other thing I can think of is to put it in a bag of rice for a few weeks and see if it pulls out any residual liquid

the rice method will not help if it was turned on, while some part inside was still wet... it's also auto-firing... so no, rice will not help at this point. it's at this point in tech support i usually tell the customer, "sorry, but if any part was still wet, and you turned it on... yeah it's fried jim".

CheallaighYou are probably right, but it's still worth a shot.

I once spilled a drink in a laptop. It started behaving irratically and I took out the battery. Uh oh I sent it to a friend of mine who is a computer technician, he flushed the whole system out with alcohol and voila when I got it back it worked perfectly.
Maybe 10% chance it'll work, might be worth a try.
Luckily these mods are so inexpensive that it's not a catastrophic loss.
Now if it was a DNA 200. Oy Vay
