I'm using an aspire pockex, and the coil is making a very loud crackling noise everytime I use it.
Everything was fine to begin with until I replaced the first coil, now I'm wondering if it's safe as the tip got quite hot the last time I used it. The e-liquid is 50/50 pg vg, nic 6 and the same brand I started with. Is it safe to go on using it, I haven't any replacement coils at the moment, another thing is it seems to use a lot of liquid even though I 'm not a heavy user. Would appreciate it if anyone's got any advice as I was really enjoying vaping.

I'm assuming these are premade so is the second coil the same ohms as the first you used?

I ask only because it sounds like your vapor got warmer on the second coil. if it is different you may need to adjust the wattage.
It's the coil that came with the pockex 0.6, I just filled it with a different flavour liquid and now it tastes burnt so I guess the coil is kaput. I only put the coil in a day or so ago. Falling out of love with my pockex.

How's the battery? Is it charged?
How thick is the new juice?
If the juice is too thick it may not wick properly.
When your battery gets low, it doesn't vape the juice properly either, just kinda cooks it, thus the sizzling sound.
Yes the battery was charged the juice was a 50/50 pg vg I tried a different liquid same ratio caramel flavour that smelt delicious but when I vaped it it tastes burnt, so not happy.

After you fill the tank did you wait 15 to 30 minutes before you tried to vape it? And what was the wattage? .6 Ω you could start at 15w and work your way up. I like a cool to slightly warm vape and end up around 20 - 25W

At .25 I start at 28W and work my way up to about 32w. Start low and move up the wattage until you find your sweet spot.

It may also help to draw liquid into the coil with a drag or two without firing the mod when you get ready to vape a new coil.

I haven't got adjustable wattage, I waited for five minutes, so maybe not long enough? When I changed the flavour I didn't throw away what was left in the clearomizer as it was the same brand, pg/vg ratio I'm wondering now if maybe that was the cause. It was working so beautifully to begin with.

I use a PockeX style atomizer in my tank, but at a much higher resistance. When I change them out I grab the new one and apply drops of a somewhat thin juice (usually 50% or higher PG) to the outside of the atomizer. You'll see slots on the side where the cotton is visible. Apply drops of juice to that cotton and roll it over in your hand, do the same to each slot, and continue rolling it around and applying drops of juice until it doesn't quickly absorb anymore. Then make sure that your device has the appropriate level of juice in it and put it back together with the new atomizer. I don't know how well your device wicks but you want to let it sit for a while while to allow the juice to saturate the cotton in your atomizer. You can also close off any airflow (if you have adjustable airflow, turn it down-if not, block it with your finger) and take unpowered puffs to draw juice in to your coil. By unpowered puffs I mean you act as if you're vaping but don't power up your device. The manual that came with your device should recommend how long you should wait to vape for your atomizer to become saturated. Five minutes could be fine but I have seen them recommend fifteen. The best thing I have found is to set it up and then go do something. Check the mail. Pet your cat. Argue with a relative. Start a slave rebellion. Whatever comes to mind.

It's possible that your coil isn't toast yest. Do you have any lighter flavors to try it out with?

I think I have completely messed up the coil now as I changed the flavour, it was the same brand, pg/vg ratio and same nic 6 but there was still some of the other flavour in there and I didn't think it would matter. Well after that it started to have a slight burnt flavour so I guess I shouldn't have done that and I've ruined it :(

That's rough, but only because you don't have any more coils on hand. Do you have a way to quickly get more?

Yes I'll be able to get some tomorrow, although I'm starting to wonder if perhaps I was sold the wrong kit as I'm not really a sub ohmer, so maybe I can take it back and get something different, perhaps I should start a new thread and see what people think. Thanks for replying.
