HI all. I am a complete vapor newbie and need lots of help. I was a pack to a pack and a half smoker of Marlboro or Pallmall red. Using VUSE for 2 weeks and love it but my goal is to reduce and eventually eliminate nicotine.

How to I figure out nicotine content in the juices? I have read that VUSE has 4.7 which from what I read is quite high.

If I buy a bottle of e-juice (is that what it's called) is the nicotine content based on the bottle or syringe full.

Can someone give me a chart of something that is easy to read and understand.

Thanks,

The nicotine content should be printed on the bottle of e-juice (yes, that's what it's called). Nicotime is expressed in mg per ml (mg/ml). It's how many milligrams of pure nicotine in one milliliter of juice. Common levels in pre-mixed juices are 3, 6, 12, 18, 24 and 36. I would imagine that your 4.7 represents a mg/ml measurement. It's an unusual number but then again, I'm not that familiar with cig-a-likes. You can get e-juices lots of places. I recommend finding a local b&m (brick and mortar) location - someplace with an actual street address, building, etc. - where they have a tasting bar so you can sample lots of different flavors and see what you like. Most juices come in the various nic levels I mentioned. Welcome to the forum. Ask all the questions you want. That's what it's here for. I'd also suggest reading lots of the older posts, the "stickies," and some of the blogs. You'll find a lot of your questions answered there. Again, WELCOME!

Hello and welcome to the forum chellie. Glad to have you here!:)

I'm not familiar with VUSE or how RJReynolds system of classifying eliquid concentration relates to the rest of the industry. Most eliquid (or as many of us call it "juice") is sold in 0mg, 6mg, 12mg, 18mg, etc (or something similar). A nicotine concentration of 6mg is 6mg/ml.

Reading your answer and another answer is confusing me (told ya I'm dense)

I understood what you said about the nic levels but I don't understand how the 4.7 level compares because according to the chart 3, 6, 12, 18, 24 and 36 the 4.7 would be on the low end but from all I read it is sky high. So is the 4.7 actually 47?

That measurement doesn't seem to follow the way that e-juice is normally measured. Usually, under 12 is low, and above 12 is high. I was a pack and a half smoker and I usually use 12, sometimes 18. No clue as to how they measure it.

The easiest would be to upgrade your gear to something that is refillable with the various liquids. Start with something around 18mg and go down a step at a time from there. As previously stated, it's usually offered in 36, 24, 18, 12, 6, 3, and 0 nicotine levels. I was a pack a day+ smoker of strong cigs and I have found the 18mg works quite well for me. I plan on stepping down in about 2 weeks to 12mg, then down from there. Lots of options for reasonable pricing on refillable devices.

Vuse offer 1.8%(18mg) or 2.4%(24mg) strength cartridges, can see where the 4.7 comes in. As others have stated nicotine is listed as a volume or percentage and if you're used to smoking Marlboro reds then i would stay at the 2.4%(24mg) end to start with. Something else to bear in mind is the fact that e-cigarettes don't ease the nicotine craving as quickly as a real cigarette, it take a few minutes due to the larger particle size.

Yes 4.7 is the same as 47 mg per ml. Please do some reading here and get away from the Vuse. Much better, and cheaper options.

That is almost exactly what I was thinking. Can I ask what you are using and any other suggestions for equipment?

Thanks for that answer. That is what I was looking. I do not want to stay with Vuse. It was my intro to vaping. It's like 3 weeks now that I haven't touched an analog and I have been smoking since I was like 11 so it's a long, long time and I feel better. But I know the nicotine is still there and it's still expensive. I want my own gear and I want to step down in nic content. From reading about e-liquids I see that this is really high which is probably why I was able to get off on analogs without any issues. I am having a hard time figuring out what gear to get. That's where I am kind of stuck. I need an all day battery and I'd like something that turns on automatically when I take puff, has a ceramic mouth part and is easy to refill. That's where I am at right now.
