Have you vaped before a blood test? If so...

Have any of you ever taken a blood test and had your ABSOLUTE LYMPHOCYTES be out of range, specifically on the high side? If so, was it attributed to vaping?

I've received results for a blood test and it shows that I'm out of range and some medical literature I've read on this mentions a potential link between an increase in absolute lymphocytes and vaping... so I'm curious what others have experienced.

I've smoked cigarettes before a blood test but this last test was the first time since I started vaping. I don't know if that caused the issue or not but I was fasting before the test, other than a cup of coffee and vaping.

I have a doctor's appointment coming up, but I figured I'd ask the community.

Please share your experiences.

Thank you

There are a lot of things that can throw off blood tests before doing something--smoking, alcohol; hell, even eating a poppy seed bagel. It shouldn't be a surprise that vaping can throw off a blood test. When I made the switch from analogs to vaping, I made sure not to do anything (usually the day before) before having a blood test, just to make sure the results would be thrown off. Suggestion: try not doing any vaping the day before.

Yes, DO see your doctor.

NO, never had that happen to me.

Don't know where you're looking, but

does have "smoking" way down the list of potential causes. So if you're vaping nic, yeah, maybe.

I've been vaping for 15 years and never had this happen. My blood work, done this month, was normal as far as the blood count goes, including lymphocytes. Definitely see your physician, but I wouldn't get overly concerned about one elevated test. False abnormals in blood work are not all that uncommon. Your doctor will look at all the tests together and can usually tell if there's a problem or not. Also, an abnormal lab value is generally repeated before making a diagnosis.

Yes i have - pretty much every test. And no, vaping has not affected any tests.

Caveat - my tests results, by and large, come in on the normal range. I get tested once or twice a year and this has been happening for 12+ years. In that time i have been a vaper. I cannot say for sure whether my habit has changed the results but if they have, not to a degree that raises concern.

I have never had that happen. Best of luck. Let us know what the doctor says. Is that the only test that was off?
Yeah, that was the only part of the blood test that was off. I saw the doctor and he scheduled some other tests and a new blood test to see if it happens again. I'll update again after all that.

Thank you for the well wishes and replying to my post.

I'm definitely going to add vaping to the fasting schedule for my next blood test. I honestly hope it's the vaping that caused it but I'm not so sure. The possibilities are vast, so we'll see, fingers crossed. Fasting sucks!

Thank you for the suggestion and replying to my post.

Saw my doctor and doing another blood test to see if it happens again. I read a couple articles, some shared similar info to the one you shared. I personally think it happened because of an infection I had a month prior to the results in question, though I'm not certain.

I'm going to fast from vaping before this next test and I'll update you guys after the results come in.

Thank you for the article and replying to my post.

I appreciate your detailed message. I had the results looked at and some more tests were requested, including another blood test. Not going to lie, I got a little worried looking at all the possibilities for the high absolute lymphocytes, the uncertainty alone is bothersome.

I'm going to fast from vaping and let you guys know how it goes.

    Thanks again for your message.

Thank you for all the information about your tests, it's very helpful. That's a good point that it's possible for the habit to alter the results, but not to a degree that raises concern.

My doctor scheduled some different tests and another round of bloodwork after seeing the results, so I'll hopefully know what's up soon. I'll definitely keep you guys posted, maybe some good info will come from it.

    Thanks again for your message.

Hopefully the prior infection is all that it was!

    Good luck.
