Hard draw question

I bought a 401 for myself and a 901 for my husband a week ago. My husband is having issues with the 901 and hasn't been using it much so when my battery died tonight I borrowed his to vape on for a while and it's like sucking a bowling ball through a straw! So now I'm wondering if that is his problem, he doesn't think he can use the 401 because he works around heavy machinery all day and we have read that the 401 is sensitive to stuff like that. So my question is, does the penstyle or any others have an easier draw?

Make sure the battery and atomizer are making contact. I can't seem to find it now, but I read that you can "pull" the center of the battery forward if it's too deep to make contact. ... I'll keep looking for that.

If you soak it in water MAKE SURE it's dry before you hook it up to the battery otherwise you'll kill the battery. Even if it seems dry enough it probably isn't. Best to stand it up and wait 24 hours, or so.
