I have tried looking everywhere I can for advice on this, and everything seems to turn up a dead end.

I am currently using the GT CCELL coil 0.5 ohm (15-40w) in my SWAG and I have been having serious issues with it.
I prime them as told by the vendor I bought it from, only for them to taste like they've burnt out or taste metallic a couple of days later.

I am currently using a 70/30 mix with the actual kit being on 25.0w on normal, at 300f on SS.

Is there anything I'm doing wrong? (Only had this kit a couple of months and still a bit of a vaping n00b, haha)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The cCell differs from regular coils. With regular coils you have a metal element (the coil) in direct contact with the wick (cotton). With the cCell, you have a metal coil in contact with a ceramic heating element that is in turn in contact with the wick. Despite the coil is SS, it is the ceramic that heats up and vaporizes the juice. I have tried the cCell in temp control with no success. Best used in wattage between <25 to 35 watts. Priming the coil only requires a small amount of juice for there is not much wick – if you look from the top of the coil you can see where the cotton is in contact with the ceramic. Do not use over 35 watts or you will burn out the coil.

And to add….letting the coil sit in a tank full of juice does not hurt but it is not needed. I have used cCell coils seconds after installing them and filling the tank with no issues what so ever. As mentioned there is not a lot of wick to saturate. This is my 2nd favorite coil from Vaporesso, first being the Mesh. I use the cCell in all my small (22mm) tanks that run on single battery mods for it’s lower wattage helps battery life and it does not guzzle the juice like a mesh coil does.

Highly possible. I’ve had much luck with Vaporesso coils – no bad ones yet (knocks on wood). After priming the coil, start at a lower wattage, say 20 watts and gradually increase to suit your needs but do not take it over 35 watts - you'll fry it almost instantly (I say with experience!)

I shall do. I think the coil I'm currently using has turned bad so need to change it anyway. So shall I leave it out of the tank for 15 minutes to make sure that it's completely soaked in and then put it in? (Sorry for the questions, just getting fed up with these coils haha)

Try priming it from the top only, a few drops at a time adding more as it gets soaked up.
Keep doing this until you can see that the cotton on the sides is very saturated, then let it sit for a few minutes.

25 is perfectly safe, I’ve started at 30 or even 35. But absolutely no harm starting at 20

You can see from the below pic that there is not a lot of wick. Over priming it will result in leaking for the fluid will flow over the ceramic element and down the coil out of the bottom of your tank. Few drops until you see the cotton within the flow ports change colour.

It seems 20 is the sweet spot. I'll see how long it lasts

Good to hear. :thumb:

Should have mentioned this earlier, but because there is so little wick, keep an eye on your juice level. Some coils will give you a few hits after the tank is empty, but the cCell will burn quickly (again, I say this with experience!). Always make sure your juice level is covering the majority of the flow ports.

If used properly, I found the cCell coils to last longer than the usual regular coils. Wouldn't say their longevity is as good as some of the top mesh coils out there but they do last pretty long. I swap tanks quite regularly so do not use mine on a constant basis, but I am running a 3 month old cCell coil in one of my tanks with no sign of flavour loss. As always, YMMV. Enjoy!

Ccell coils are a bit tricky yes plus finding the sweet spot for ANY particular juice kind of matters. In my humble opinion some coils will last longer with certain types of juices than others and there are certain juices you also may have to vape at lower wattages than others, dark, sweet, highly flavored or sweetened juices, thicker juices etc.

Trying to not chain vape is good too. It's not always possible but chain vaping can be a real coil killer.

I hope you continue to have better luck with them.

I routinely vape coils below their "manufacturer resistance" and the result is usually longer lasting coils. It's a guide, not an absolute.

I know that your post is a month old, but thought I'd add a comment for anyone else that might run into this. Overall I enjoyed the Ccell coils before I started building. It was actually my very last box of Ccell coils that made me purchase an rta, every coil was bad in that box. They all tasted burnt no matter what I did. I was one that always primed my coils and let them sit before using, I'd also fire at lower wattage and allow the coil to wick while slowly increasing to 35-40 watts. This last pack was just bad all around from the moment each coil went into the tank and it made me decide that I wanted to be in control of my coil enjoyment.

MrsMallowXO, what firmware is your Swag running?

Updating the firmware may help a little, if it's not up to date.

Also, you could try using a custom TCR mode, with TCR set at 88 and temp at 250°C.

Open to trying temp control with the cCell coil. But keep in mind that it is the ceramic heating element that is influenced by how saturated your wick is, and not the SS coil. Ceramic has a different temp coefficiency than Stainless Steel, so if you are controlling the SS coil to work within 250°C, what is the temperature of the ceramic heating element? It is not a 1:1 ratio.
