So, my doctor told me to avoid eating/drinking grapefruit because it interferes with the absorption of one of the meds he put me on. I asked him about vaping grapefruit flavoring and he said, "I don't know really, vaping is pretty new, but I don't want you to stop vaping. Your lungs sound so much better. It's probably not real grapefruit in the flavoring anyway."

Does anyone here know if there are any brands that do not contain real grapefruit extracts or oils? I know the push is for natural is better, but in this case, it is not. I keep running into the "natural flavors" phrase, which is certainly not helpful at all.

I really love the taste of grapefruit. I used to eat/drink grapefruit once or twice everyday. If I can't do that, continuing to substitute the flavor in a vape would be great!

Both companies have replied to me, I have to say, Jake at nude nic was awesome. He replied as only a chemist can. He encouraged me to find the actual molecule that causes the problem. Granted, it had me busy for a few hours searching for the answer, but just in case anyone else is on a medication that forbids grapefruit (there are a few), the molecules responsible are:

"For example, in humans, bergamottin and 6',7'-dihydroxybergamottin are responsible for the "grapefruit juice effect", in which these furanocoumarins affect the metabolism of certain drugs". doi: 10.1016/j.clpt.2004.02.007

Jake is going to check if his citrus/grapefruits contain these molecules.

Inawera simply said, "No it does not contain real grapefruit."

I have to say, I prefer Jake's answer, because as he pointed out, artificial flavoring does not guarantee that the responsible molecules were not also reproduced.

I hope this helps someone else as well, as "the grapefruit effect" interferes with several meds.
