I don't get sick often. In fact, I can be without the flu for a whole year and then get it twice only the next year. When I do get the flu, it's no joke, though... people fall like flies around me and ask how I was able to work in that condition.

I sorta felt it coming for a few days, then on Monday it was bad. So bad I retreated home from work at noon. I slept about 4 hours and a half in the afternoon and went back to bed to catch another 8 hours of sleep before going back to work.

Tuesday was a bit better. Today, 3rd day, I have been o.k., but coughing a bit more often, yet not even half as bad as the last time I was sick.

The real point here is to share how much easier my airways have been feeling compared to when I had the flu and still smoked:
-The congestion feels so much better. I have not been blowing my nose till my nostrils bleed and every blow got the real stuff out to the point I can still breathe through my nose most of the time.
-I have not been coughing to the point I feel like my brain is going to come out of the top, and it's been straight to the phlegm rather than all that milky stuff first.
-I have not been so out of breath I thought they'd have to put me on a respirator.
-I still feel bad and my whole body ached during the first day and I did feel like I was freezing bad, but day 2 presented almost none of these symptoms.

In essence, I don't sound like I'm a soldier in the 17th century that's about to die from dysentery and do not feel like it, despite the fact that I can definitely tell I am sick. I once again feel I can breathe so much better than I did when I smoked the stinkies. I haven't even finished a single tissue box in 3 days and my nose is not yet white from dry achy skin! The biggest plus is I can still vape my favorite flavor, although I do take shorter draws and vaped half as much. The second plus is menthol juice! Where can I get real cough drop e-juice? I can't say my black cherry tab juice is interfering with the real cough drops, though :)

I also just found out this minute that, even after 6 months of exclusive vaping, I did see a little of that brown stuff come out again. Hopefully this will be a cleansing experience as well.

Anyone else have a "positive" experience with the flu thanks to vaping?

I haven't been sick since I have started vaping, but I was one of the ones who got bronchitis a few times a year at least. And with asthma (which has improved immensely ) that was some pretty serious stuff.

Your post gives me a lot of hope for the upcoming winter as that is when I usually get hit by it, being in Texas if it drops below 40 degrees I'm in trouble.

Don't think I've had a cold in the 15 months since I quit smoking completely and started vaping. Usually got a bad cold / upper respiratory infection / sinus infection about twice a year. Had a very bad case of bronchitis the year before I switched. Scared the hell out of me. Said I was gonna quit smoking when I got better, but of course I didn't.

Don't think I've ever had an actual case of flue my whole life (with fever, etc.). But I always get a flu shot by mid October.

best regards, larry mac

Im pretty sure you got sick from vaping you should quit right away.

I was half expecting something like that. Actually, I suspect I got sick because I let someone try my new juice in my setup. I kept my tip and let him use his, but he didn't look top shape and now I know why...

Let the lesson be learned: is it's something you handle a lot and even more importantly if it comes close to your face, make sure anyone handling it is 100% germ free.

When I first got here in late January, I was smack-dad in the middle of a horrible cold. Got an eRoll about a week later, still fairly sick (since I still smoked then), and for the first couple weeks of vaping, I was of course coughing my fool head off -- but my smoking kept going down and down, and I was really surprised that the coughing was completely done by about the 3rd week of Feb, where always before, it would last at least 6 wks after the cold itself was gone. I'm pretty sure that all the post-cold coughing and coughing up got rid of 75% of the accumulated tar, since I was putting less and less in, all the time, because once that post-coughing was finished, I didn't cough up at all anymore -- even though I didn't stop smoking completely till Feb 27.

A week or two ago, I had that strange feeling in the area between the back of my nose and my throat, and I kept wondering if I was coming down with a cold... but I never did, or, that WAS the cold, and I barely noticed it.

I haven't had a cold or the flu since I retired 4 years ago. I've had 1 bad fight with allergies thanks to the Ligustrum that surrounds my patio. Love the fragrance, but apparently too much is a bad thing. It hasn't bothered me but the one time, tho. My immune system is compromised because of the RA, but I still seldome get sick, of course i'm not around anyone to catch stuff from them like I was when I still worked. One sick person in an enclosed environment will make everyone in the place sick. Go home, people! One year I had pnuemonia 2x. Caught a cold from a girl in the office, who spread it to everyone. It went straight to my chest & cost me a week of work. Went back to work, & got it again because her cold was still making the rounds.
I smoked a pack a day for 42+ years & my lungs always showed clear on xrays & when the Dr listened to my chest. I always thought they just weren't looking hard enough. But I've not had the coughing at all, & I stopped smoking completely when I got my first ego kit. I guess my lungs really were clear! Who'd a thunk?
