Was wondering where people are getting their Ti G1 wire, and what they like about the brand they are using. I am aware of:

Pure Titanium Wire - 100% Guarantee - Specific for Jewelry Surgical Gr – Unkamen Supplies

... and understand many people like this wire. I ordered some myself today, but with reservations as I would rather not use matte finish, acid washed wire that's made for jewelry. I'd prefer shiny wire. Seems cleaner/better to me as the matte 'finish' would seem to tend to hold debris and also break down. (In fact when you make jewelry with this wire it's intended to be tumbled until its shiny... so that matte surface is supposed to be worn away.) I'm sure it's fine but I'd personally rather a shiny wire.

The following wire sounds great, (shiny surface, annealed, 32 feet) and is super inexpensive compared to other Ti sold by vape shops ... plus it's from the very trusted Stealth Vapes, but they are in the UK and I hate to wait two weeks for wire:

Titanium Wire

I don't really want to pay $1/ft for Spider Silk or like brands. Am thinking there has to be a bulk supplier of Ti G1 that's on par with what Stealth Vapes is selling. Am looking as I type this... but thought I'd ask where others are getting theirs...

I'm in to hear more about this too.

Hey Ian, glad to see there is interest. I happened to see this blog by Ralph, the owner and highly respected seller of Unkammen Ti wire... he explains the different finishes on his wire, and why they look like they do:

“Hey Ralph, Why is My Titanium Fuzzy?” | UnkamenSupplies Blog

It eases my mind a bit, though would still prefer a shiny finish. I wonder what the process is that the Stealth Vapes wire goes through ... I noticed Spider Silk specifically says it is not acid washed, indicating that's a plus. My guess is acid washed wire can leave a residual taste until it's gone through some burns, but that's speculation. I have noticed some people commenting in different forums that "their titanium tastes great after vaping 1/2 a tank" -- meaning there is an initial taste with the titanium that gets burned off. Whatever that is, I don't want it. :)

I also understand wire should be washed (ISO) before building as it's treated with a grease/oil/whatever to keep it from corroding, and people have reported Spider Silk has residue that needs cleaning or burning off too. Which is fine, if you know going in what process the wire has been through, what's on it, and how to get rid of it. I prefer cleaning all residue off over vaping it off. :) I don't care to go through "1/2 a tank" inhaling whatever it is, even if it's not harmful (like food grade grease or something). The whole reason I want to try titanium is to not notice anything but the taste of juice. :)

I just got in some 26 ga the other day from Unkamen, it has been great so far. Before this I had tried some nickel and it was giving me a funny taste no matter I did so I went back to kanthal for a few months. Im also curious to see what everyone else says, Id like to find a reputable US vendor with quality Ti that wont break the bank.

Just to be clear FTR, Unkamen is very reputable and quite reasonable, so if you're happy with the wire (as is the general consensus from people from what I've gathered anyway) that's great. :) I might be thrilled when I get it too. Would just like a shiny wire alternative vs the matte Unkamen sells.

5/6 wraps on a 2.5 or 3mm mandrel vapes pretty damn good.

I've been using this for a couple months.

Titanium Round Wire, 50-ft. Coil, 24-Ga., Soft

Cool.... 50' for $10 is quite reasonable. It does say it's Grade 1 and sounds similar to Unkamen's in that it is intended for jewelry. Does it have a shiny finish?

Also, it doesn't specify that it is 99.5% pure. Does anyone know if Grade 1 automatically means 99.5% pure?

How many coils do you guys really need to make. I bought some of this "overpriced' Ti wire and freaking LOVE it...I bought 15 feet, gave away around 5 of it, and still have more then enough for a lifetime of coils...

LOL! First, please share which "overpriced" wire you love. Spider Silk? Sweet Spot Vapor's?

As for wanting a lot of it, speaking for myself I like to experiment with different coil builds (and for several tanks) and don't like feeling my supplies are limited or overpriced (which would make me not want to waste any). I prefer to feel free to have trial and error and "build 5 vertical coils in a row" if I want, (or some other build I usually don't do), if the first 4 happen to turn out wonky or aren't the resistance I was shooting for, or don't hit like I want and now I want to make it again but on another mandrel or with a different number of wraps. Especially since sub-ohm is new territory to me, as is TC. I don't want to think, "this 6 inches of wire cost 50 cents so don't screw it up" ... of course 50 cents is nothing, but it all adds up over time. And money saved from buying 50' @ $10 can go towards other vaping gear. :)

But if I was the sort who had a favorite tank and a favorite build and wasn't interested in it as a hobby so much, but just to get a good vape in, then I would buy the overpriced stuff and not sweat it, as it would last a very long time. And I imagine you are one of those very reasonable and sane people. :)

Im not going to argue semantics here, I own a watersports company that charges 100 bucks an inch for fiberglass damages....in key west they charge 300+ per inch...

You will NEVER catch me whining about the cost of any wire...cause thats just silly. How many coils are you making and how many are you messing up to have to worry THIS much about a non existent problem? Are you really messing THAT many up?? lesbehonest

This Ti wire can be straightened out (just like any wire in the world) so why are you making such a to-do about this.

Some people like to worry about things, and do this and do that. But ive been vapin on Ti wire for a long time, I wrap up silly coils when i get bored and still have plenty left over. Priorities people..

From my perspective, if you are in US Unkamen looks like the best bet. In Uk/Euroland, i would definitely go for Stealth Vape which is the best Ti wire I have tried yet and by a significant margin. Its a little bit more expensive than Crazy Mesh/Zivipf etc but well worth the small difference for its cleanliness and, more importantly, its workability. So much less springy than all the other stuff I have used. Just my $0.02

I think this is called different points of view, my friend. I didn't hear anyone here whining, however, or making a "to do" but just exchanging sources for Ti and opinions. If you aren't of a mind this is anything you're interested in b/c you're happy with your wire at $1/ft then I'd say this is one less thread you have to read, and with so many enlightening threads on ECF, I'd consider that a plus. Maybe you could start a thread called "I love my $1/ft Ti Wire!" then you would have people who agree with you (maybe even some crossover from this thread) to discuss your POV. Or if discussing wire at all is the unneeded "to do" then ...I can't say why you're wasting time posting here but I hope it's not just to criticize and belittle people for having a different opinion from yours. That's not really keeping in the spirit of ECF. We are all just vapers reaching out to help one another and exchange info. Enjoy brother.

PS You never did say which wire you 'freakin' love' which was the point of this thread... to exchange info about good sources for Ti wire. While I don't want to pay $1 ft. or more, others might. So if you feel inclined, please share.

That's great to know and I think I will order some to try myself. Since Unkamen is on the way it's not like I'll be high and dry until it gets here.

Just a though on the Gr2 Sweet Spot crap, remember that this will likely have a different TCR to Gr1 and any of the new mods that have a Ti mode hardwired (excuse the pun) will not work properly!

WOW... this is great info! Had no idea Sweet Spot was G2! Def a no-go! Thanks for that info.

I never saw a problem with his post. He's expressing his opinion. I've even considered his opinion and I want to ask him if he's tried other TI wires and why he chose this one.

I myself invited him to share the wire he likes and would be happy to read anything he has to say about it. But calling people here who are looking for less expensive wire "whining" and making a "to do" -- not to mention his assumption that he knows how much wire everyone needs (the exact amount he needs) -- and anyone who needs anymore 'doesn't have their priorities straight', is not "opinion" but pomposity (to be nice) posing as opinion.

"I really like my [fill in blank] more expensive wire and find it's totally worth it. I get mine from [fill in blank] and like it b/c of [fill in blank]. I can't believe you guys can go through 50' of wire. My 15' will last me a lifetime!"

That's opinion. And all are welcome, as always. There is no need to mischaracterize those with different opinions by calling them whiners or telling them they don't have their priorities straight.

On that note, I am still waiting myself to see what wire he "freaking loves" so much.

Hmmm. I guess that I just don't get offended by petty words from the Internet.

hahaha I know right...I have several Ti wire sources, but Im going to leave sunshine hanging a few more days just to see what kind of eloquent posts condemning me result from it. Every once in a while people like to jump on my case, the end result always makes smile. Some people have nothing better to do then hate on me, been dealing with haters my whole life, im honored :)

Trayce it is 99.5% and if you reach out for them they will give you the complete spec.

And I believe Ti G1 minimum requirement is 99.5%

That's a unique perspective. Personally I would wonder what I was doing to have so many people "hating" on me. There must be a reason.

You were condescending, and while I take no offense of such things it's fully understandable that you were called out on it. And, as Marc said, if you've had so many haters you might want to look to yourself as to why that is.
