Glossy coating on mouthpiece scraping off...

Anyone had issues with the gloss coming off in their mouths? Would this be an indication that I got a cheap knock off? I wouldn't have any way of knowing since I have never laid eyes on any kind of pv before it came in the mail.

Welcome to the forums...

I never had a problem when I was using my 601 pipe.
The stem is not like a real pipe stem that are made of vulcanite.
I never bit down on the stem though like my old pipes. With the e-pipe I usually just held while puffing and simply put it down between smoking. That was the best part for me... puff, puff puff and throw it in my pocket. I was drinking one time and tried that with my tobacco pipe... but that's a whole other story !!!

No, I've not had that problem. But it's too heavy for me to hold between my teeth comfortably.

I'm sure the slick coating is just on the surface, so it could be scrapped off with a knife or I guess your teeth. You must have one heavy duty set of choppers!

With my old pipes, I would hold them with my teeth often while my hands were busy. I still do that with the 601.
I still have a lot of the old habits from the tobacco burners. I keep catching my thumb going up to tamp the ashes down when the vapor gets too thin and I found myself reaching for a lighter this morning when I put the 601 to my lips.

I usually have the 601 fitted between my teeth when climbing out of the Jeep in the morning; Thermos in one hand and need to key swipe for work. I have noticed some flaking, just hope its lead-free paint and not the poisonous stuff they use for childrens toys.
