By the way Torq, don't ever pick up and hold an Ed Brown! If you do, you will end up pawning your first born to buy it, and once you shoot it you will never shoot the Springfield anymore, and I'm serious... I've got a Springfield TRP Operator that just sits in a holster when I go shooting. The TRP Operator is a fantastic 1911, make no mistake, but it's no Ed Brown. I've probably put 4,000 rounds without a hiccup through the Ed Brown, unbelievably accurate, and it just is super slick coming out of the holster :D

Ed watches out for me

Hey Rick
I know Ed Brown, I use mainly EB or Wilson parts on my guns. Nothing I own is Stock. I have a full machineshop at my disposal and spend lots of time in it.

I hand grind Damascus blades, this one is fitted in Bolivian Rosewood and mosaic pins

This is an 1885 Winchester which I rebuilt from pieces. The stock is 50 year old curly maple, stained in the proper original way with Nitric Acid and dissolved iron filings. Smelly process but the thing glows. Original patina on it, i never re-blued the thing to keep it original

This is a Czech mauser I built in .22, custom fitted to my body

This is my .38 Thompson Contender, specially chambered octagon barrel, built speciically to shoot match wadcutters. This thing hits golfballs at 50 yards if I havn't been drinking coffee

And this is a better shot of Betsy, my match Springfield with mostly Wilson or Brownell match parts. The only thing stock on this is the frame and slide. This thing hits baseballs at 100 yards off sandbags

Gorgeous work Torq, I want to come play at your house :D I'm hoping one day to add a machine shop to my arsenal, I'm currently finishing my woodshop. I haven't done any gunsmithing, hopefully one day. But I have done some basic metal working, mostly O1 tool steel though, I've got a fully custom infill smoothing plane that I've started, but have yet to finish building.

Yes ebonizing is a stinky process! If you want to know how to make any wood coal black with ebonizing (regardless of tannin content) I've got a pretty nifty trick... :D
