    Somewhere between here and there
It’s been a little while since I’ve reviewed a Geekvape product but here I am again with the latest and greatest from them. Over the years Geekvape has put out some really great products that I’ve had the privilege of testing and now they have continued that trend with the new Geekvape Obelisk 65 FC pod mod which is the first fast charging pod mod. The 65 FC is powered by built in TUV tested dual 1100mah batteries and offers a maximum of 65 watts of output. Besides offering multiple output modes, it also has OTG reverse charging which could possibly come in handy in some situations.

    INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The packaging of the Obelisk 65 FC is typical Geekvape packaging rather than the nicer review sample packaging that samples sometimes arrive in. Nothing wrong with that. On the front is the Geekvape name with a swirl design and on the back is a list of features rather than a contents list. I’m guessing on retail packaging that there would be a list of contents. It is marked as a sample after all and near the bottom is the contact information for Geekvape.

Once opened, I was very pleased with the appearance of the 65FC that I received which is the Lava design. The 65FC with the pod and .2 ohm coil rated for 50-58 watts were pre-installed and the coil had a film over it to keep it from being fired before filling the pod. Underneath the foam insert was a second coil which is .4 ohm and rated 25-35 watts. Both coils are the B series coils that many people may already be familiar with. I have used them many times. They are really a pretty good flavor producing coil. I really have no complaints with them. Also included is a coil removal tool, USB-C charging cable, and user manual.

The Display of the 65FC is very bright and shows the following information.

    - Mode of operation

    - Output setting

    - Battery level indicator

    - Coil resistance

    - Output Voltage

    - Puff counter/ Length of current puff while fire button is pressed

To me the fire button seems kind of spongy rather than clicky like several mods. It really doesn’t bother me but just something I noticed. Also I felt like I would have liked the fire button to be a little larger. There is the Obelisk symbol on the fire button which has a nice texture to it. The adjustment buttons however are a little clicky which may please some users.

The button operation of the 65FC is as follows:

    - Press the fire button 5 times to turn the device on/off

    - Press the + and – buttons to lock the adjustment buttons but it will still fire

    - Press the fire and + or – button to adjust the screen brightness

    - Press the fire button 3 times to highlight the mode of operation which lets the user access the following options: Smart, Power, TC-SS, TC-TCR, VPC, Bypass, and OTG

    - Press and hold all three buttons to enter stealth mode

    - Press the fire button 3 times then press the + and – buttons to change the theme color

    - Turn the device off then press and hold the + and – buttons until the software information is displayed and then press all three buttons to do a factory reset.

Both sides of the mod came with a plastic film covering them. I tend to leave these on as long as I can to protect the mod. Kind of like a screen protector for phones. The right side of the mod has the Geekvape name printed on the colored panel. It doesn’t bother me but feel like the font size could have been a little smaller.

The left side has the Geekvape name also printed on the colored panel and also the USB-C charging port is on the lower part of the frame. I would have thought that perhaps they would have put something different on each side like perhaps the Obelisk name or symbol instead of the Geekvape name on both sides. The back side of the mod has a ridge molded into it very similar to how the Obelisk 200 had on its spine.

The opening for the pod to sit inside has a ledge near the front. There are two very strong magnets that hold the pod very securely. There are of course two gold plated spring loaded contacts that make connection with the coil once the pod is inserted.

The B series coils sit in the pod at an angle and there are two flats molded into the bottom of the pod that the flats of the coils align with when installing a new coil. The coils sits flush with the bottom of the pod. There are two magnets on the bottom of the pod that match up with the magnets on the base of the pod opening on the mod.

Besides the Geekvape name branding on both sides the Obelisk name is on the bottom of the mod along with the Obelisk symbol and Designed by Geekvape.

I feel like the 4.5ml liquid capacity of the included pod is a good fit for the 2200mah battery. The pod is somewhat tinted and I would actually prefer a clear pod to make viewing the liquid level easier but it can be seen some with a bright light in the room.

The included drip tip is removable but I found it quite comfortable to use. The liquid fill hole is a decent size and the rubber plug is easily removed and will swivel some out of the way for filling. It is mostly mess free but I did have to wipe after reinserting the fill plug. I have a tendency of filling a little bit too much.

The airflow control on the sample I received is fairly stiff to turn. It’s probably supposed to be like that so it doesn’t get moved accidentally. I liked the airflow about 1/3 open with the .4 ohm coil and the mod running at 31.5 watts. This coil was a good fit for me for my vaping style as well as getting what I thought was good battery life. I already had the Geekvape fast charger so with the battery run down to 20% after 343 puffs it only took about 13 minutes to charge the battery completely. With the .2 ohm coil I ended up running it a bit lower than the rated settings. I ended up at 45 watts with the airflow completely open. It was still a bit warm for me as I like a cooler vape.

    FINAL THOUGHTS:

I meant to mention this earlier but Geekvape is the official partner of Paris Saint-Germain FC. I don’t know much about soccer but take it that this is a big deal.

I very much enjoyed testing the Geekvape Obelisk 65 FC pod mod. The Obelisk 120 FC that I previously reviewed was the first of the fast charging devices from Geekvape but there are more to come in the future.

I think the B series coils deliver very good flavor and with the adjustable airflow it’s easy to find a setting and vapor temperature to fit my vaping style.

The mod itself is very comfortable to hold and is small enough that it is almost hidden in the palm of my hand except for the top of the pod and the drip tip exposed. With the way the pod sits so far into the mod it’s not really possible to view the liquid level with the pod inserted.

There are lots of pros on this one so I’ll just take a look at my personal cons on it. They are a little nitpicky but I would prefer the fire button to be a little larger and clicky. Also I would have liked the pod to be clear and possibly a liquid viewing window with the pod inserted in the mod. Other than that I think it’s a really good device. I experienced zero leaking and condensation while testing the Obelisk 65 FC. I would definitely recommend it to those looking for a pod mod with good battery life as well as the capability of charging other devices using the OTG function.

I’d like to thank Geekvape and Allison for sending the Obelisk 65 FC pod mod for this review and thanks as always to the readers. Below is a link to the website if you’d like to take a look at this one or other Geekvape products.

Great review and truly innovative product.

Thank you very much. I'm very much liking this one and am continuing to use it. I need to see if I can find my B series coils in my stash so I have back ups when I need them.
