    Frio Bar R5000 Rechargeable Disposable
    Designed & Manufactured by Freemax

Hello vapers and welcome back. Today we'll be looking at the Frio Bar R5000, the largest sibling to the Frio Bar R3000, R1600, R600, 600, and 500, and the only one of the bunch that can be recharged for maximum puffs. This model along with the other 5 models were all designed and manufactured by Freemax which really adds some top notch quality to the flavor output. For anyone that's had the pleasure of vaping with the Freemax Fireluke or Mesh Pro tanks understands what I'm talking about. If you want top notch flavor and coils that will outlast most other coils on the market by a long shot, Freemax is the one to choose. In this regard, Frio Bar teaming up with Freemax to produce their line of disposables has resulted in a very similar outcome.

I'm going to be honest with you, I'll be the first to discourage anyone from starting their vape journey with a disposable simply because I don't think they're very cost effective or environmentally friendly. If neither of these two things bother you, however, and the only vape you can acquire that will keep you off the stinkies are disposables, then look no further.

I want to thank Tina, the Frio Bar team, and the Freemax team for supplying all 10 flavors the R5000 comes in for the purpose of this review. As always, I will remain objective (as possible) and unbiased.

This may be one of my more subjective reviews simply because the device is so simple to use, that it doesn't even come with an instruction manual. Thus, my evaluation aside from the basic operation and overall experience with this disposable will be the accuracy and thoughts on each individual flavor.

And now for the flip book.

    -What's In The Box-

    736oTbW.png

I received a variety pack with all 10 flavors that came in the "Middle" sized box (I'm not sure I want to see what the Large Box looks like, lol). Each individual disposable comes in a single box seen on the left. The only thing in the box is the R5000 disposable itself that comes in sealed plastic.

    12bUOv2.jpg

On a side note, this is the first time I've noticed a warning label stating "NOT FOR USE BY CHILDREN OR NON-SMOKERS" on any device that I've recently seen. I'm not sure if this is something Frio Bar decided to do themselves, or if this is a result of further downward pressure applied by the FDA.

    -To Start Vaping-
(This really doesn't need a tutorial, but alas)

    wzts5Iq.jpg

Tear the end off from the cutout at the bottom end of the plastic.

    UAzith8.jpg

Remember to remove the rubber seal in the mouth piece.

    1cvPCa6.jpg

The sticker on the bottom needs to be removed to allow airflow and gaining access to the USB Type-C charging at a later point (all disposables arrived with near 100% charge).

    af2Haxl.jpg

The bottom of the device has an LED that doesn't do much other than light up when taking a puff, light up when charging, and blink 3 times when the charging cable has been removed.

    -Specs-

    • Puffs: Up to 5000 Puffs
    • Nicotine Strength: 50 mg/mL or 20 mg/mL (TPD)
    • Battery Capacity: 700 mAh
    • Charging: USB Type-C

    -The Look-

    bbMrjOJ.png

The "R" in R5000 refers to the resin design implemented in the visual aesthetic in this disposable. This same design pattern can be found in the R3000, R1600, and R600 models. While this doesn't particularly reach out and grab me, the resin design gives this device a gleaming marble look which subliminally I'd associate with words like "solid", "hard", "durable", and "classy". Furthermore, when spinning each of the 10 different disposables in a complete circle, I don't see a reset line in the design pattern anywhere along the way indicating that these devices are carved out of a single piece of resin. For solidity purposes, it doesn't get much sturdier than this for PCTG. My clumsiness has knocked many of these disposables to the ground accidentally and none of them have faltered in the slightest.

The mouth piece is thin and oblong allowing it to fit very comfortably between your lips.

    hinnNcu.jpg

The draw of this device is a pretty loose MTL however, the auto-draw detector is quite sensitive. You can draw as slow as you want, and you'll still be pulling in vape. You can also use loose lips on the mouth piece to allow additional airflow and vape this as an RDL. I will warn you however, you can draw in quite a bit of vape in this fashion and find yourself feeling a bit queasy and light-headed very quickly. This is generally how I vape MTL's, but take shorter puffs.

    -The Coil-

    A61nfjU.png

Freemax needs no introduction when it comes to flavor output and lifespan of their coils. FM SaltCOILTECH is their newest COILTECH innovation which they released with the Onnix and Onnix 2 using their 1.0Ω+ OX coils. The OX coils are definitely on par for flavor and coil life as the COILTECH 4.0 coils found in the 904L X and M coils found in the Fireluke 3 and Mesh Pro 2 tanks.

    WH05mZk.png

Freemax uses a Tea Fiber Cotton Formula in their coils known to some reviewers such as MikeVapes as "voodoo magic", and it seems to be just that. I'm not sure how they do it, but their flavor output is consistently on point. This formula also boasts an antimicrobial property which may prove to be a better option for those sensitive to allergies or microorganisms.

    -The Battery-

    rOkOUPN.png

The Frio Bar R5000 uses a 700 mAh battery. While this may be a downsize from the R1600's 1300 mAh battery, the R5000 can be recharged while the other models cannot.

I must admit for the size, that this battery holds up for a very long time. I have an hour and a half commute to and from work, and while I haven't solely been using this device (the 5% nic strength is a bit much for my liking), with regular use I've only had to charge the battery once so far. My estimation in puffs for the disposable I've used the most would probably be in the 400ish range.

The only downside that I see to the charge port is that it recharges at 0.1 Amps. I'm not able to determine the full length of time for a full recharge simply because the LED only indicates when it's plugged in and when the cable has been disconnected. Doing the math however, it's estimated to take around 7 hours to fully charge. This might seem like a let down, and it kind of is, but you can be almost 100% sure the battery will last you an entire day. With that in mind, you simply put it on a charger overnight, and grab-n-go on the way out the door. This device also supports pass-through vaping meaning, you can safely vape it while it's charging.

    xyGbnMq.png

I'd associate the longevity of the battery closer to the performance I'd expect from a mod with a 1.6 or 1.8 Ohm coil. Coils that have a higher resistance require less Wattage (battery power) to vape with however, often there's a trade off in the amount of flavor output. The flavor output is quite immense in these Frio Bars - sometimes a bit too much for my liking. Of course this is purely subjective and the powerful flavor production might be exactly what you're looking for.

    -Model Comparisons-

    ddjfATn.jpg

As mentioned before, the biggest factor that sets the R5000 apart from the others is the ability to recharge the battery. The R600 has a different selection of flavors, a 1.4 Ohm coil better suited for a smaller battery, and a 20 mg/mL nicotine strength as well as a 2 mL pod capacity to suit TPD restrictions.

    -Flavor Accuracy-

Now for the subjective portion of this review. Below I will show what each flavor is described as, and how accurate it actually is to me. I'm also noticing different levels of menthol or "ice" in every disposable even without the mention of Ice in its name; some much stronger than others.

    Strawpina Colada

    PGSWwpx.png

A very good mix of all 3 flavors - I can taste them individually. There's a slight hint of menthol, but it's more for the refreshing effect than anything. Grade: A+

    Lemon Tart

    yEtjIdV.png

Wow, this one surprised me. It tastes like a mix between a lemon drop and lemon meringue pie with an ever so slight hint of menthol. I'm also picking up a cake/crust or dessert flavor as well. This one's a delight and probably my favorite. Grade: A+

    Cheesecake

    2NDMUpy.png

I buy quite a few dessert flavors and custards, so I had high expectations for this. While the overall flavor is good and it does resemble a standard cheesecake, the menthol background collides with the sweet, rich, savory taste I'm usually after. Grade: A-

    Apple Duet

    457C72L.png

This is pretty accurate. Although, I think they went a tad bit heavy on one of the flavors. I have my own DIY ingredients, but I have yet to actually make my own juice. From the reading I have done however, I've read that going too heavy in a flavoring can sometimes lead to an alcohol aftertaste. I'm getting a hint of that. It could also be the dash of menthol I'm tasting as well. The apple ejuices I have purchased in the past have had a tartness to them - I think that would have maybe had a better overall taste. Grade: A-

    Strawberry Melon

    oOkdjhy.png

The flavor is pretty even for both watermelon and strawberry. Again, a hint of menthol to freshen the taste. I think a tad bit more sweetener would have helped this one a bit - the watermelon tastes like a bit you'd take near the rind, and not that juicy savory piece right in the middle. However, the overall composition between these two work very well together. Grade: A

    Lemon Mint

    ICbT9e5.png

This one's mostly a menthol (spearmint maybe?) with a hint of lemon. It reminds me of those fancy waters people order when they go out. Kind of refreshing, but a bit too minty for my taste. If you're into mint, this would be a good choice. Grade: A

    Pink Lemonade

    urKV2fQ.png

Pink Lemonade kind of threw me off at first when I first started vaping it. Something felt off. However, it kind of grew on me and the more I thought about what pink lemonade is supposed to taste like, they did a pretty good job on this one. The pink in pink lemonade is often from added cranberries, strawberries, or grenadine. My guess is that they went with a hint of strawberry as I'm picking up the similar flavor note from the Strawpina Colada. As you would expect, there's also a dash of mint. Overall, this one's pretty decent. Grade: A

    Purpleberry Ice

    GLA0x2t.png

I was expecting this one to be a bit more minty being that it has Ice in its name. Ironically, it has a very mild mint flavor - what I'd consider a hint. For the most part, I'm tasting mostly grape and bit of blueberry. I'm not sure what other berries they've added, but that's pretty much all I taste. If you're into grape (which I'm not really), I know there are some huge fans out there that would thoroughly enjoy this flavor mix. Overall it's a pretty pleasant vape. Grade: A

    Blue Razz

    M9kZWHy.png

This one was done well. I get mostly a blueberry flavor on the inhale, and a raspberry flavor on the exhale. The mint/menthol is hardly noticeable in this flavor mix. Delightful and refreshing. Grade: A+

    POG

    LR9SsaM.png

Unfortunately, this is the first flavor I picked out, and I ended up sticking with it to try and wear the juice and battery out as much as possible. I'm still not at the end of it, lol. 500 or so puffs of 5% nic has been giving me quite a queasy feeling repeatedly throughout the day, and I'm not about to try and get nic sick. What I will say about this flavor is that it's a complicated one to judge. I do taste the orange and passion fruit, but I'm unsure of the guava. I'm not sure if it's overpowered by the others, or if I'm just missing it. The flavor composition is very tropic, but also pretty hefty in the menthol department - probably on par with the Lemon Mint. Kind of a weird concoction, but overall not bad. Grade: B+

    -Overall Rating-

    Flavor Production: 9.5
    Overall Experience: 8.0

The flavor production is outstanding, but I still can't shake the feeling that I'm vaping a disposable. Unfortunately I wasn't able to fully deplete any of these devices of ejuice to get an accurate measurement of expected lifespan or longevity. I will say however, that they haven't declined in the quality of vape during the entirety of their evaluation.

I'm not sure what the going price is for the R5000 as I can't seem to find them online for sale anywhere. As I'd mentioned in the beginning, if cost and environmental toll are not things you are concerned about (well I'm certainly not going to be able to change your mind about them), these Frio Bars R5000's are something you should certainly look into if you're after a great tasting disposable.

If you're after a great tasting pod system or 510 kit, I'd strongly urge you to take a peek at Freemax's Onnix/Onnix 2 mini-pod devices, Marvos pod-series devices, the Maxus Max (dual battery pod device), the Maxus 100 (comes with the Fireluke 3 tank), the Freemax Maxus 200 (comes with the Mesh Pro 2 tank), or hang tight for their newly released Maxus Solo 100W kit. If you're after a great MTL vape, I'd highly suggest the Maxus 50 (comes with the Fireluke 22 tank) if you don't mind an internal battery.

For more info about Frio Bar and their other devices, you can check out their website.

I want to thank you for sticking with me through the entirety of this review (if you're still there ). Stay tuned for more reviews coming up very soon!

Hope you had a great weekend. Happy vape hoarding!
