Hello and welcome back to another review. I was provided the Freemax MaxPod pod system for the purpose of providing an honest and fair review. I recently reviewed the Autopod 50 and was astounded by the flavor produced by that unit. Well, Freemax has stayed on point and provided a smaller pod system that even though its size, delivers in the flavor department. I’ll talk more about that later but let’s take a look at the contents of the kit and some images I borrowed from the Freemax site that I thought would be nice to share.

First Impressions:
Upon opening the box, I very much liked the color and design on the Maxpod. Even though it is a small pod, it has a nice weight to it instead of having that cheap plastic feel like some pod devices. I filled the pod with the 1.0 ohm coil and topped off the charge to give the coil a chance to saturate. I was very pleasantly surprised on my very first vape. I was totally taken off guard by the very good flavor and fairly large vapor produced from this tiny unit. It is definitely a mouth to lung device in my opinion. The draw isn’t super tight on it. It is draw activated and there is no button to press on the Maxpod. There is a single indicator light on the device that is marked by what I would call an X design or four dashed lines in the shape of an X. On draw activated devices like this I tend to do what I would call a primer draw and then follow with a second draw. I quickly found out that it was not necessary at all with this device to do a primer puff. It does take a fair amount of vacuum to activate it but nothing unreasonable.
I used the first coil(1 ohm) for a little over a week and noticed no reduction in flavor or vapor production. I did notice that initially the tip got a little warm if chain vaping but that was only for the first part of the first pod fill until the coil was broken in. I switched to the 1.5 ohm coil for no other reason than to get a feel for it for this review. I saved the 1.0 ohm coil and plan on using it again. I was using a fairly sweet DIY mix with both coils and did not notice any discoloration of the coil material after one week of use. I do however use more than one device a day so the Maxpod was not the only device being used during that time. I was able to get through 1-2 pod fills before the battery indicator changed from white to blue. I felt like the device provided a decent battery life for a 550mah battery.
As many of you may know, Freemax is well known for their excellent flavor production from their coils. They stayed on track with the Autopod 50 and have done the same here with the Maxpod. The NS mesh coils provide very good flavor for a device of this size that is only 11 watts. It is nice that the 1.0 and 1.5 coils have different colors of o rings on them so they are easily identifiable. The pod has a 2ml capacity and is a side fill with enough room to fill without making a mess. The only real issue I have with this device is that the pod is dark in color and has words on one side. Those two things made it hard for me to see how much liquid is in the pod without shining a flashlight behind it. The pod is held in the device by two magnets which seem plenty strong and I never had the pod pop out on me.
Final Thoughts:
I feel as though Freemax has taken their time and put a lot of effort into their new designs which include the Maxpod. It is small but high performing in flavor and vapor production for a small pod device. No, you’re not going to get clouds like a dual coil rda provides. However, if you would like a small device that is easy to pocket carry and produces very nice flavor and a fair amount of vapor then I would recommend this device. It is the highest performing device that I have used in this class/ size of devices. I did prefer the 1.0 ohm coil over the 1.5 ohm coil. The flavor production on the 1.5 is still good but less vapor and a cooler vape. I like that the Maxpod does stand up on a flat surface and also like that the charge port is located on the side of the unit instead of on the bottom. If I was to order this device for myself then I would grab a box of the 1.0 ohm coils to have for back up. So if you would like a small device for pocket carry but don’t want to sacrifice flavor and vapor then the Maxpod would be a good fit. I thank Freemax for sending the Maxpod for me to review and as always, thank the folks that took the time to read my review. Below is a link to the Freemax site if you would like a more in depth look at the Maxpod or any other Freemax products. Just a little notice that Freemax has more new products on the way which I will be reviewing in the future. They have been hard at work coming up with new designs.
