When I go into my acct, under 'overview' tab, to the right there is a box labeled 'my account tools'.
In that box I click PayPal debit MasterCard.
Once it opens up, I click change under backup payment settings.....
From there I can set limit from a scroll of predetermined amount or click other and set my own amount.
Hope this helps :)

never knew about their card. i have had an account with them forever, just applied for their debit card. you don't need to actually put money into your paypal account right? if i use the paypal debit card it'll just take out the money directly from my linked account right?

I just had my back issue a backup card.
There's usually less than $100 on it.
Banking app alerts me whenever I make a purchase. Less of a hassle than a prepaid card. If someone manages to hack it.
Wells Fargo would cover the fraud anyway.

hmmm...i have wells fargo...they could give me two cards for the same checking account? i dont really understand what you mean about backup card. i would 100% much rather just do that instead of the paypal thing.

Thank you, didn't see that!
Unfortunately mine doesn't have the 'other' to enter in a lower amount, and a rather high minimum selection. May be because my PayPal account is set up for a business account, not sure. But thanks for your assistance!

It doesnt help to alert everyone about fraud and CC theft and not tell us the vendor. Letting us know which vendor it is allows the consumer to be cautious until the issue is resolved. To say there is CC theft and not tell the community is just as good as not saying anything at all.

It may hurt the vendor a bit to have this happen. But if nothing is done to fix any security flaws, then ultimately they will be out of business.

You may want to check into this with your bank.

I recently got hacked with 4 bogus charges, $20 each, on my debit card shortly after buying from an ecig vendor. Notified my bank immediately since my banking ap also notified me. My debit card was canceled and a new one sent (about 7 days), and the bank reinstated the $80 of bogus charges in 5 days. Yeah, they covered it, but what if that was the last $80 I had to feed myself? What, if instead of $80, it was several thousand, emptying my checking and making other transactions bounce? Sure its covered by the bank, but it can be a huge hassle, bounce other checks, and even temporarily drain your cash!

Ask them who their CC processor is. Seems like that is where the holes are.

I just had my back issue a backup card.
There's usually less than $100 on it

My card was specifically only for ecig purchases w/$93 in the account. It was brand new.

My bank is going to issue me another card. They noted that only ecig related purchases were made on it.

I can tell you that they are not going to want to keep re-issuing cards to me if this next one gets hacked.

I imagine that if a card making the same type of purchases is hacked more than once, esp. from the same vendors/CC processing outfit, that information will eventually make its way to the state's attorney general's office and/or law enforcement.

P.S. in the many topics about this, have their been any replies from the vendors, or are there any in the vendor topics? I haven't looked there yet.

No you don't need to have $ in your Paypal acct, they will w/drawl 3 days after transaction from your backup acct.

I fixed the typo on bank haha!
It's just another unlinked account, just like savings.
Put a little in each paycheck.
There's $2 and change in there right now.
Guess a thief could use it at Starbucks?

It really doesn't matter where the blame lies.
Fact is it happened on their secure site.
Their juice could taste like Katherine Heigl.
Not gonna order from them.
There's a coupon list on here.
A blacklist would be helpful too.

yeah i see that on the paypal site, but does that mean it takes three days for the vendor to get paid and ship your order? or they still get paid right away just you wont see the charge on your actual bank account until three days later?

oh so just another checking account basically, yeah that's not a bad idea. man i had two also, but i just closed the one of them because i opened a new one, i should have kept it just to purchase vaping stuff...well i didn't vape yet when i had that so i couldn't have known, oh well. you can transfer funds instantly between accounts though in the online banking though right? like transfer funds from your main account to the unlinked account online? i do that with my checking and savings, dont know if it works them same with a checking to a different checking though.

and yeah i agree with a list...although everyone doesn't want to "sell out" or something the vendor that the fraud occurred with, i don't know why. it is a business, business' get scrutiny, a lot of people seem to think of these juice vendors as friends or something and don't want to name names when something like fraud happens. like in the negative review section, you can't post what is said in ticket systems. why? it's a business, why do they get that sort of privacy.

Same thing happened to me, my card info got jacked and some one used it to buy a membership for a senior dating site. I'm going to put my money and say it happened at Alien Vision. I'm glad I caught it early though, my bank refunded me 30 bucks and sent me a new card. Stuff happens, credit card fraught doesn't only effect ecig vendors. However, some of these vendors aren't taking the steps necessary to make sure their stuff is secure.

MT baker Vaper was just brought up the other day in a thread about CC theft, The OP of that thread had only ordered from 3 vendors and MBV was one of them. The other two were Alt cig and Cignot We need to post this stuff with vendors names here. We may be able to narrow it down this way.

Oh yeah I remember that, well I have ordered from cignot and nothing happened there, don't know about altcig, but it looks like it probably is a problem with mtbaker, since two people mentioned mtbaker now.

No one is saying that mtbaker is the one doing the fraud...no one thinks that they are just taking your card number and using it to buy themselves random ..... they are saying that there might be a flaw in their payment system that is letting some hacker get card info and then using that, by hacker i mean some random person not affiliated with mtbaker.

Thanks for that. I, in no way, feel that MBV is run by crooks stealing peoples info, as I understand that they have no access to the numbers in which we enter. The payment system on the other hand might.

I hesitated at first naming the vendor, however, I feel the same way. Customers, and the business in question need to know when something like this is going on. We need to be protected.

Thank you so much for actually naming which one it was. So many people post about CC hacks, then won't say which Vendor it was because they don't feel it's the Vendors fault....when they finally do tell, most times, it the same Vendor that others posted about days/week(s) ago...so to me...it is almost their fault...for not making sure their stuff is secure. One Vendor even responded that there was no way it came from their site, when the person told them they were the only placed they shopped at! It's Vendors like that, that I won't do business with. You want to bury your head in the sand and not to even bother to look into it?? Fine, go ahead...but you just lost a good customer.

Again...we all know these Vendors aren't the one doing it...but they need to make sure they keep their site safe as possible! Please keep us posted once you do get a hold of them...I'm curious as what their response will be!

There are only so many credit card processors out there that will deal with the ecig community. I suspect that whenever we see a rash of these fraudulent charges that the vendors involved happen to use the same one. It's typically smaller vendors for a reason - the big players have financial leverage to use the bigger processors. Bigger processors are more likely to have more systems in place to reduce the chance for hacking.

That said, even the biggest processors can get hacked. It's just easier to break in to the smaller ones that many of our vendors have no choice but to use. Recently named Alien Visions and Mt. Baker are victims as well, as it hurts their business.

The cost of a prepaid card is looking worth it to me.
