Exactly. Also you can check this: Know Temperature when metal glows red | Hearth.com Forums Home

When I dry burn a coil I usually go to 1600-1800 F (good to get rid of contamination, no additional cleaning needed). And it can easily can be done (for my 1.2-1.6 coils) at 8-10 W.
links,proof.
resistive wire glows red at about 500F+

Few things I’ve learnt today, in my very simplistic interpretation:
1. Formaldehyde can not be produced by vaping a standard flavoured e-liquid, regardless of the wattage/voltage, as long as the wick is fully covered by the e-juice.E-Juice will evaporate rather than combust IF supply of e-liquid is fast enough to cool the wick.
2. PG/VG will combust and decompose to formaldehyde if the wick is about to be a) dry and thus b) severely overheated. This can occur at any wattage/voltage when supply of e-liquid is not enough. Higher wattage/voltage requires much faster uninterrupted supply of e-liquid than at the lower settings. Replace wicks often, clogged wicks can impact the e-liquid flow. More often if using high wattage.
3. Dry overheated wick produces a nasty “dry hit” which should prompt vaper to check the gear (add liquid or re-wick or reduce the wattage to suit wicking capabilities)
4. Good wicking is essential to avoid dry hits.Even with the tank full of liquid dry hit can occur if setup does not support adequate e-liquid flow. Ensure supply is fast enough to support chain vaping.
5. Temperature limiting devices significantly reduce (or completely eliminate) dry hit phenomena by keeping dry wick from overheating.

Feel free to correct.

Wow I need to get some higher boots!

Hell, I popped my share of coils with a little ole 3.4v eGo battery. What do you think happens to the kanthal when you pop a coil?

    Ever have a "hot spot"?

I'm not going to quote any temperatures where kanthal melts, but I can tell you what happens if you touch it with your finger.

do you mean have a coil wear out? sure have.
    hot spots of course.
both Kanthal and Nichrome can operate at temperatures
    over 2000F.
here are a couple of ECF threads discussing operating
    temperatures as we use them.

Look at it this way, formaldehyde is used to preserve dead people and you are jump starting the process so by the time you die, you'll look FABULOUS!!! People will be like "It's sad he died so young, he looks 30!" and then someone will step in and say "What are you talking about? He was 88"

    Really? Like for real?

    Didn't know about that.

Thrasher I had to quit vaping the Worcestershire ..I'd always want a steak with it:lol:

..but you're right..I make my own if I can..sometimes I cheat with Lee & Perrins..but it's not hard to do..and a bottle will last a couple months in the 'fridge.
    • 1/2 cup malt vinegar
    • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
    • 1/2 cup blackstrap molasses
    • 1/4 cup naturally fermented fish sauce (find it here)
    • 2 tablespoons tamarind paste
    • 1 tablespoon naturally fermented soy sauce
    • 3 tablespoons onion juice, or 1 teaspoon dehydrated onion
    • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
    • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
    • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    • 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • 2 shallots, finely minced
    • 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
    • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
    • 8 anchovies, minced
    • Juice of 1 lime
I think we've all polluted our bodies ENOUGH and often really didn't know better..hence the concern.
Signed an ex smoker that believes it's never too late :p

I checked the bottle in my fridge and you're missing a few key ingredients.

    - Caramel colour
    - Xanthan gum
    - Propylene Glycol Alginate

That last one is quite interesting. Actually your recipe sounds a lot healthier than the one on my bottle.
