each to their own but if its for health and you only really need it at night id go for a good quality desktop.
All of the handhelds like the titan and hebe etc arent going to last as long. Even the more upmarket portables are getting a little gimmicky with rechargeable batteries that will possibly eventually have issues. Albeit there are some very good handhelds now. If you need to take it with you yeah a handheld makes sense but for night use at home it was a desktop for me.
I couldnt justify forking out for a volcano but i settled on the arizer extreme Q for AUS$250. A good canadian company and the thing appears bullet proof. I can leave it on 24 hours for days on end. Its also handy and therapeutic to use essential oils.

With a DDave mod (that can be picked up on ebay or dhgate etc for a couple of bucks) and elbow packing its awesome. Great for microdosing. I find im using heaps less herb than i was using when smoking. The heating element has a lifetime warranty so its only a few pieces of glass if you are clumsy, screens and a whip hose that needs updating every so often. I dont bother to much these days and just use either direct draw or a whip but initially it was good to transition from smoking going through a bubbler or water pipe.
JMO but id go for the best desktop i could afford.

If I had room for a desktop I would buy the Q as it has good reviews and though a bit beyond my budget might be worth using the credit card but my home is a small mobile and overcrowded as is, if I don't stay on top of it turns into clutter hell.
Yes a built-in battery is going to fail and I'd prefer a replaceable battery but it all comes down to money and a person's individual situation. I've been house bound for most of the last 3 years, first sick from chemo n radiation, lost 30 pounds n most of my hair n I normally weight 145 pounds wet, then knee replacement a year ago, rehab extra long as expected so I just got able to go without cane a couple months ago. So besides no room for a desktop, come spring I'll be spending a lot of time fishing, mushroom picking n a few camping trips so a portable makes sense. I'd like to only spend around 100 bucks.
Though the doctor's say I'm doing well until I hit that 5 year mark the life expectancy of a built-in battery mod may be longer than mine. With so much I need health wise it's hard to justify spending big money, to me, on a rig to toke cannabis.
Those who have the resources to try the more expensive rigs great for them and if they don't like or use long term what they buy it's no big deal, if I spend 200 bucks and it's the wrong purchase I'll fret about n kick myself repeatedly for it.
I've been making more edibles lately, good medicine n cost me a used mini crockpot at thrift store $3.99 and some organic coconut oil.
The title of thread if I was redoing it I would change to something like "cannabis vape options for around or under $100.00". , as threads take on a direction of there own.
I have to get off the internet as I'm running out of data again which contributes to my lack of knowledge about options presented as I have limited internet time n can't watch any videos, there is only the pax for sale in the local stores and no screw on atomizers for cannabis here either.
