"Everything is made by hand and in very small batches. As you’ll see on our bottle and packaging labels, all numbers match and our batches generally consist of 160 bottles per lot. We’ve invested a lot of time and money in our facility and in our flavors. As a matter of fact, the five offerings were in development for about six months before being released. We’re perfectionists and refuse to allow any liquid to leave our facility before it’s absolutely perfect. We use only natural USP / food grade ingredients and the best premium pharmaceutical grade nicotine. We disclose the obvious flavors for tasting note reasons but there are many other ingredients that help enhance what you taste. We use only the best ingredients sourced both domestically and locally and all liquid is made in the state of California. All of our blends result in a 50% VG / 50% PG combination and come only in 30ml bottles."
Well, parsing that carefully: By hand and in small batches is good but that's the case for a good number of more reasonably priced vendors. Same with USP/food grade flavorings and pharma grade nicotine - the usual 'better' e-liquids all fall in that category; I never buy anything that doesn't fit those minimal criteria. Ditto careful flavor development (who would say otherwise?).
There's no customization of VG/PG, samplers or smaller bottle size, which won't satisfy some vapers. Sourcing ingredients domestically and locally can mean any number of things (including, "I purchase Dekang juices in bulk from a US business and recombine them" - not saying this is what Gambit does at all, just pointing out that it doesn't mean much). And of course they mix it in their own California locale.
Virtually every affordable 'artisan' (small, skilled and conscientious) vendor and some larger ones can match or exceed all of those claims. Many will add that they've eliminated diacetyl-containing flavors (and will readily disclose those which contain diacetyl-substitutes), offer customization (PG/VG, flavor adjustment) and some make their own flavorings and tobacco extracts. Some use only organic flavorings (it's kind of meaningless in e-
juice, but matters to some folks).
That leaves "many other ingredients that help enhance what you taste". Other ingredients besides food flavoring, PG/VG, sweetener, Ethyl Alcohol and nicotine? Again, I need to know what those are before I put out big money. I actually need to know what that "many" refers to before I vape it.
From the wording, though, I'm thinking that they just mean "food flavorings other than those obvious from the
juice description", like a little orange in the chocolate, multiple flavorings for complexity and 'layering', etc. - and again, that's par for the course with all of the better juices (and some godawful ones).
That said, I always appreciate skilled and imaginative
e-liquid mixers and I'm thinking these guys are in that burgeoning category.
I'd pay normal price to try it for sure. It's really fun to have a 'glamor' line with such elegant packaging. I get that some will want it just for that. I'm just not so far seeing anything that would justify an analogy with those 'gourmet' comestibles that really are made with better quality (and more expensive) ingredients, or require more complex and time-consuming processes (also more expensive) which would justify the much-higher prices.
To me.
